Lets say I don't want a cat indoors and want a cat to remain mostly outside, how good is a cattery? I know breeders often use them and in effect cat shelters use rows and rows of mini catterys to house cats, so would it be suitable to house a pet cat? Have them roam about outside and then have them shelter in a cattery sort of deal.
>just have them in your house fag
No.

Why do you hate cats?

Why are you squeamish to the idea of keeping a cat outside?

I would make it like 20ft longer and about 8ft wider.
Keeping a cat, or a dog, in a contraption that size is inhumane. For long periods of time, at least.

Seems fine to me
How do you address coyotes and such trying to make their way in?

No coyotes where I am based. Backyard is fully fenced too with the only intruders being other cats.

Cats are animals. They are adapted to outdoor enviroments with their multi-layered coats. Why should I deprive them of a natural baseline with a human orientated enviroment? Besides, I'm thinking of norgies or maines which are pretty resilient.

This thread is bait for the catschizo isn't it

I'm actually half-serious with the idea. I'm not against cats roaming outside and I think having a cattery/catio/cat run is an interesting proposition to consider. My home situation means I can't have something like a cat indoors, but I could have them in a yard instead. Weather is fairly temperate throughout the year too so there is little to no freezing risk that a shelter can't solve.

Cats must be humiliated more. The funniest part is the cats don't care, and like it. It's just "cat fans" being hurt.

Catios and such are a good idea, and I don’t have significant issue with the idea of a stand-alone aviary type cat enclosure, but there are a few things that should be considered:

Cats need social time with their humans. It might not seem it, but unless they have the ability to socialize, groom, and also escape from fellow cats, they need you to fill this social need. Having your cat run allow your cat access to you and your home would be a good way to do this. I recommend using human social content instead of just stuffing a bunch of cats into a chicken run, because of the “escape” part. You are intelligent enough to give a cat who’s done being social their space, other cats generally aren’t, and your catiary would have to be prohibitively large to allow them to handle this naturally. It seems like if you make it a conscious choice on your part to go give your cat access to you when it’s living in a shed in your yard, that fulfilling this need would be burdensome, which is why I recommend giving it access to your dwelling.

Second, make sure they have access to significant high ground. People making catios give their cat 8-10 feet of elevation to play with, generally. A Tractor Supply chicken run will not accommodate this need.

Finally, make sure there is enough space and enough to do in the enclosure for them to do athletic things and stimulate them mentally. Most chicken runs have a few square feet per chicken of space and are meant to hold 4-12 chickens. I would recommend more like 12x20 for a cat run. You could even keep more than one cat in that space, the space need is about facilitating movement, not population density.

Thanks anon. There are more aviary style runs I have seen which appear to be more appropiete than the intial image I used. I do intend to spend a good deal of time with them as you would with any other cat regardless and I know the difficult part of keeping multiple cats is social boundries. I am not going into it as like having a personal cat colony in my backyard sort of deal, but either way I have a project at the moment I am working on before I can factor in logistics for setting up something like a catio.

Literally what is the point? Examples posted so far are way too small for even a single cat to live in 24/7. They're meant to be for the cat to enjoy for a few hours. The cat isn't going to like being isolated an unable to explore outside the cage. The cat isn't going to like being exposed to all weather. The cat will inevitably get ticks and worms. You're still going to have to clean the cage out every day. What's the plan, you're just going to interact with the cat for two minutes every day? Why fucking bother? You said there are feral cats in your area, just look at them. I swear to god you shit munching baiting faggots are insufferable. Can't even remember the last time I saw a genuine thread on this shit board. Jump in front of a fucking train.

Personally I think they're cruel. They let your cat only get a tease of the outdoors and that's it. It's like going to a strip club and leaving with blue balls. Either let them outside or don't.

You feel that way because you're a fucking retard. Hope that helps.

>No
Then don't get a cat.
