First time dog owner here:
If I want to treat my dog by buying some raw chicken from the grocery store and feeding it to her, do I have to cook it or is it better to give it to her raw? If raw, should I let it sit out for a bit and become room temperature? Should I buy the kind with the bones still in them or boneless? The dog is a 1.5 year old Golden Retriever.

Golden retriever may swallow food instead of chew, so bones probably aren't a good idea. Poultry bones are generally considered low risk if they're still raw, but this depends entirely on how your dog eats food.
Raw poultry has the risk of carrying salmonella, which wont make your dog sick if theyre a healthy adult, but their poop will start having salmonella in it. This may or may not be a non-issue for you.
My advice would be to either do good quality boneless skinless chicken breast gently cooked or raw. If your dog chews their food properly raw chicken feet and raw necks are also excellent treats for dogs, and they are cheaper than breast. I give my dogs raw feet, necks, and legs on occasion with zero issue. Ive never gotten salmonella either.

NO COOKED BONES EVER.

Dogs suck.... they stink like rotting flesh and the incessant barking is intolerable. Their shit is a toxic biohazard that cannot be used for anything but bio- mining a neighbors yard into being uninhabitable and useless wasteland.
The only doggos are useful for is being bullet sponges and a distraction until you get a good headshot sight picture on your home invasion opponent.

Horsies are much smarter than dogs and smell so much better. Cheap to feed IF you know what you are doing. They can live 2-4x as long and are more useful AND their poo can be used in your garden.
They also have more facial expressions than dogs cats and even chimps.

Mine is house trained, just like roy rogers' Trigger.

Bonus, they do not get fleas.

This is a horsie thread now

They can eat raw meat but why risk it? Slice it up and put it in a bowl and toss it in the microwave if you can't be assed at the very least.

this is the way. no seasoning, grill/roast them just beyond raw, let it cool a bit and dog will be happy

Sorry bud, this is the first time ever posting this. This is my real world experience with these bullet sponges over 4 decades.

Never feed a dog meat, they do better with grains and vegetables.
