>>5084916They're ambush predators that eat insects, basically the same ecological niche as frogs, so there's not really a need for one. They also have the same long tongue and ability to move their eyes independently like other chameleons so they don't really need to move their heads much to see or eat.

I couldn't find a pic of a skeleton of any of those species but many other chameleons do have quite tall spinous processes, and what we see in profile is more of a fin on the back than a curved spine.
Full-size chameleons are well known for their ability to change colors and they are often quite bright. These pygmies seem to be leaf or lichen mimics, I wonder what their color changing ability, if any, is?
