It was the night before Spoonmas when all through the pondNot a Fish was stirring, in this pool or beyondThe spoon was set by the shore-line with careIn the hopes that the pellet-man soon would be therethe kois were nestled all snug in the mudwith dreams of PROTEIN dropping down with a thudWhen out of the pool there arose such a clatterOne koi drifted up to see what was the matterWhen what to his globulous eyes did appearBut a big pair of boots coming up, stepping nearHe didn't carry fruit, bugs, crusty plankton, or branWith his fur-lined brown bag, could it be Pellet-man?More rapid than sharks to the poolside he cameAnd as he got close he called the fish out by name"Come Ernie, come Johnson, come Brownie and JoeCome Jay, Guadalupe, and William Dafoe""Come Tiny Tim, Long Boi, Jemima, BalooI see you there, Tubbo, you're getting some too!"To the top of the pond! To the side of the wall!Come close to the shore, I have pellets for all!The koi's mouth widened, gaped like a balloonAs he saw pellet-man stooping down for the spoonNow he had to act fast, his friends below were stirringThey'd woken from sleep while all this was occurring(1/2)
(2/2)So this brazen goldfish leaped up in the snowy landscapeAnd presented his mouth to the spoon man, agapewith a smile and a laugh, the man stooped on his kneesat the sight of this creature a-gasp and a-wheezeSo boldly he thrashed and lunged out of the seaTo gulp up those pellets he smelled on the breezeNow upon him he felt, 'neath the waves and the airHis oddly-named brothers swam up for their shareWhen the food hit the water, would any be spared? But our hero, the koi, did he ever despair? The Pellet-man laughed and his enormous bellyShook all about like a bowl full of jellyAnd quick as a flash he opened the nickelbagAnd emptied out half with the spoon that he hadBefore koi knew it those sweet pellets he sawMoving downwards, and straight into his mawOh, the noises he made, gulping quite like an eel,Meeker fish looking on as he swallowed his mealEyes bulging to tears he smiled and confessedHe'd never known such joy... Now off to digest!as the kois around him battled for their share of the heapTossed into the waters, Koi drifts off to sleepEven for animals far from towns decked with lightSome dreams do come true, Merry Spoonmas, good night!
