>literally dies from the stress of being touched
how the fuck do these things make biological sense?
>>
Post some stories how your pet died.

You ever think that maybe most life wasn't made to be picked up and cuddled? You're not one of them and they'll never see you as one. Birds on the other hand don't even care if we are one of them or not, you provide they appreciate and prefer that to even their own kind.

>guniea pig gets bumblefoot
>schedule appointment, 1 week
>check foot today
>there's now a big red sore opening
>its eating and walking normally though
should I take it to the emergency vet anyway? I don't want to make it worse.

Anons who had guinea pigs, pls give advice on bumblefoot

Take them to a vet, but only one who is exotic and experienced with pigs or rabbits.
Until then, soak only the paw in a small amount of warm water with Epsom salt.
Start Baytril if you have it.
Keep the cage very clean and dry

Tame them to unlock their collectible personalities

How grim do you want to get?
>Live in ag land with 18 acres
>Grew up with ~30 cats (15 at one time), 12 dogs, fowl, rodents, amphibians/fish, mini horses, pigs, and other randos.

I've seen some animals die just as gruesomely as peacefully.

Whatever you're comfortable with. It can be even funny or tearjerking.

alright I had a friend who had a parakeet from the flea market. anyway this one time he was sitting on the bed with his sister playing with the bird and they threw it upwards - you know, like the way parents gently toss their kid in the air bc it's fun? anyway apparently the ceiling fan was going at the time and uhhhh at least it was quick

No because that sounds stupid. Unless the animal is barbed or venomous it is huggable.

Ok I did the Epsom salt thing yesterday. The scab fell off and she bled a bit which made me panic, but she was doing fine. I gave her vitamin C tablets too.

Today I checked her wound and it hasn't gotten worse so that's a good thing. There's still a scab on her bumblefoot but I feel like it's gotten smaller.

I'm praying that things go smoothly until the vet visit, my greatest fear is having to amputate her leg.

>Pet guinea pig while make deep brrrr sound with my lips.
>Guinea pig makes this sound back every time I do it

I genuinely think she would have kept doing it until she died. Weird little animals, I miss her.

How did it go?
>>

They don't.

Even if they do, at the point they are captured, they are done for anyways, so it's a mercy to die of fear.

I work in a pet store and handle the pigs daily.

One of our two piggies died this week. Now his brother is all alone. It's winter and he can't go out in the yard, either. Will frequent snuggling help him cope with his solidarity? :(

I consider myself a shit keeper relative to what I read online and my Guinea pigs never got bumblefoot. Whats your enclosure like?

>be 12
>get gerbils from Petco
>one gets sick
>dad is a cheapskate and doesnt want to pay for a vet
>it dies one night
>find its corpse, missing its face, at the bottom of the habitrail tank (the other one started eating it)
>the other gets sick 6 months later
>instead of a fast death its a slow decline
>barely moves and is covered in its own filth
>take it out of its misery by hand because dad once again doesnt want to pay for a vet to euthanize it

>Got a Burmese rat as 8th year birth day gift
>Jorge.jpg
>We had a ranch on a rocky place
>Dad worked at a mining company
>Sometimes he brings some dynamite to break underground rocks at the ranch
>Sweating dynamite boxes in the garage
>Jorge likes to roam around the house
>Chews holes on the wall behind the sofa and escapes towards garage
>Days later he starts acting weird, feet look bluish
>Take him to the vet
>Vet says might have been poisoned with cyanide
>WTF? how?
>Survives
>Life goes on for a couple of weeks more
>Around 3am a very loud explosion rattles the house and breaks windows
>Dad wakes up running like a lunatic
>Garage is destroyed but work bench prevented collapse of roof
>Cops and firefighters come due the neighbors calling 911
>Dad is is in trouble
>Cant find Jorge we thing he must have escaped outside the house
>Police investigation finds there was an empty dynamite box in the garage with holes and rat bite marks
>Dad had a hefty fine for improper storage of explosives
>Jorge never returned

35 years later I still wonder if he blew up, he just escaped after the explosion or actually got poisoned and died.

I have yet to hear a non-depressing childhood hamster story. I never owned one but my best friend did, and it somehow managed to escape and drown in their septic tank. Drowning in shit actually seems less disturbing than the vast majority of hamster stories that all seem to involve cannibalism in some way.

I'd like to think he wanted to go out on his own terms.
Allahu ratbar.
