Are snakes or cats better at hunting mice? Should we be releasing snakes to resolve mice problems in farms?
>>5101058Cats waste time playing with their prey like the sadistic fucks they are. Snakes are more efficient and only attack mice solely to eat. Their only downside is that they don't eat often.
Mustelids are probably the best.
>>5101058cats arent great at it but they're still more effective by default, since even though a snakes can go right into a mouse hole and nuke the whole thing in one shot, they also only need to eat like once or twice a month, and if they DO end up doing something like that, it would be closer to a few times a year. They're also only active one half of the year as well.

>>5101058The metabolism of a snake is too slow, but cats aren’t able to pursue rodents into cover and tend to choose easier prey. Owls and Weasels are the way to go.
>>5101058Anyone got the webm of a guy putting a snake down a hole and collecting the mice in a bucket?
>>5101153I think it was a snake into a wall actually.
>>5101058Monitor lizards and >>5101060 are definitely better.Terriers are annoying spastic retards and will kill what they can see, but mustelids and monitors are able to get into places a terrier can't. Cats are too whimsical about it and snakes don't eat much.
cats hunt way more often than snakes
>>5101058Why are you blatantly baiting her like this?
>>5101058Neither is very good at it and neither has actually eradicated a mouse infestation without becoming an infestation themselves so its like asking “cyanide or ricin - which is healthier?”Cats are living proof that domestication is not some ultra high IQ utility play and ranges from random chance, to opportunity, to weird pagan religion bullshit (likely true origin of dogs = animist wolf cults… and actual reason for cats continued presence = magical thinking and superstition) to just thinking a vermin animal like a raccoon, fox, or cat is cute. Like do you think the original domestic dogs were super useful working slaves? They were basically large huskies. I doubt they helped early humans at all.

>>510117610,000 years to domesticate something10,000 years to make it useful, if ever>the state of humans
>>5101176>to weird pagan religion bullshit (likely true origin of dogs = animist wolf cultsWhat an odd thing to say, given that we recently determined that you can genetically trace all domestic cats to African wildcats raised by the cult of Bastet for sacrifice.
>>5101058Snakes are probably better in terms of succesful hunt ratios. Neither will solve your home infestation. For that you need nature's perfect predator, a bucket of water.
