Have you ever been sprayed by a skunk?

My dog has. Dog was on his scent, turned the corner of a building at night, skunk was really close and dog lunged. I saw the skunk and pulled my dog away quickly, but it was not quick enough.
If you wash in a mix of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and soap within 45 minutes of getting sprayed the scent can be removed completely.
The actual skunk spray is a lot different smelling than when you smell a skunk that got hit by a car or from a difference. It smells like stinky ass garlic, burnt rubber, and that weird old bandaid smell.

I've never heard old bandaid as a comparison, interesting.

i shot a skunk in my chicken coop once, hit it in the stomach and it sprayed all over me. smelled like burnt silly string and burnt hair.

worked on a farm for a while and they had a skunk in the garden, farmer caught it and wanted to show us how he releases skunks. he released it out of a cage with a blanket on top, it was already quite a distance away from us when max the boarder collie caught up to it.
they washed him with tomato sauce if i remember correctly, he smelled horrible for about a month. at the time it was astounding to me that a animal can reek this much like chemicals. its unnatural. not unbearable but weirdly unnatural.

They are dumb as shit too. Doing a full on spray wipes them out and they have to eat after. They can only shoot a couple of times in a week too.

Instead of spraying legitimate threats, they shoot anything that gets close to it. Then the next animal eats them. Coyotes est them all the time.

They also walk fearlessly around at night and owls jack them left and right. The white strip glows at night.

>not unbearable but weirdly unnatural
It's not supposed to be gross, just an unmistakeable smell that makes the target sensible to prey

My dads old dog learned how to kill skunks without getting sprayed once.
>chase skunk under bush
>fake-lunge, skunk raises tail to spray
>dog dives to the side
>repeat 2-3 times until skunk fires a blank
>dead skunk
As a complete aside, I found a kind of antimicrobial packet at my work once smelled weirdly like skunk spray. Not the worst of the awful smell, but it had that exact same chemical signature.

I’ve heard tomato juice, or maybe it was sauce, can get rid of it.

>tomato juice

That's a myth, it doesn't help and i'm surprised it's still being perpetuated to this day. The actual solution is to mix 3% hydrogen peroxide with baking soda and a little dish soap

>Doing a full on spray wipes them out and they have to eat after
I've heard they only do it as an absolute last resort, and this would seem like a reason why, but as you said
>Instead of spraying legitimate threats, they shoot anything that gets close to it.

Yeah and i sprayed it back
