By looks alone the platypus is hard to beat, but the axolotl has that freaky regrowth.
The more biology I learn the more I feel like humans are some of the most boring animals.
Probably not a good opinion for an ICU nurse to have. Eh.

>>
>>5109212
Nope. You just have a defective brain mixed with childhood trauma.

>>
>>5109196

These black sea stars are the weirdest one I've seen with my own eyes. When I saw one for the first time it freaked me out. Something very unsettling about the way they move in the water. Extraterrestrial looking bastards.

unlike you some humans have taste. also, feet attraction isn't unique to humans, both male and female blue boobys sexually select for feet.

That's a type of salp which tend to be transparent in general, but there's a fucked up amphipod that's even more impressive.

"Sea spiders" (pycogonids) are all leg, and all stomach.
(picrel, digestive system in yellow)
The guts in the legs also double as secondary hearts of sorts to keep hemolymph flowing to/from the tip of the legs, particularly important since they mostly breath though their legs as well:
>Because the volumes of the two main fluid compartments (hemolymph and gut) together must add up to approximately the total leg volume, gut liquids pushed distally by peristalsis displace distal hemolymph proximally toward the body (and vice versa when peristalsis pushes gut liquids proximally). The distance moved by gut particles in a single wave was as small as one quarter of a segment length in species with weak peristalsis (e.g. Nymphon australe) and more than one leg segment in species with vigorous peristalsis (e.g. Colossendeis megalonyx, and Nymphopsis spinosissima). Packets of hemolymph and gut fluid traversed similar distances but in opposite directions.
tl;dr these fucking things basically have freeze pops for legs
>>
>>5110429
Incidentally their gonads also spill out to the upper leg segments, those becoming pregnant with eggs

Maybe not visually impressive but one of the best examples of just how insane evolution can be.

Dendrogramma.
They're so weird looking that people assumed they were a new phylum when they were discovered, but DNA testing showed them to be Cnidarians
