Did you know jaguars are native to the contiguous US? Most of it, in fact. I live in Georgia and the last of the Georgian jaguars were extirpated in the 1960's - my grandparents got married before then. Nobody talks about this, for some reason. I find it beyond baffling.

I wonder how far north they ranged in Precolumbian times. It'd be interesting if they were present in the far northen US and southern Canada as a sort of New World equivalent to the Siberian Tiger.
>>
>>5110016
Yeah I actually hear they got to at least alberta, though I don't have any source to back it up. Plausible though.

I'm not sure what's going on with this image, it's either some fucked up camera settings or aislop. Looks really weird.

The jaguar is considered one of the felines with a physical structure similar to the robustness of the Smilodon, both built for strength and close combat.

They only eat little caiman. They don't touch a fully grown black caiman nor do they fuck with big anacondas. I'd say those along with the grizzly share the title of king of America, but if we're counting polar bears they take the crown.

But if they do, they are the natural predator of the black caiman.

With a sufficiently large snake, it's always about who gets the jump on who
The snake is basically defenseless if the jag strikes first. But that said, that's a small anaconda in that vid. A full sized 300lber is a much more dangerous prospect.

It's curious how the smilodon and the jaguar had the same relationship as the lion and the leopard.

The funny thing is that the victim became the bully, a story as old as time itself.

I really wonder how brown bears and jaguars interacted, at least mexico reintroduced wolves we only have to wait a while
