What purpose do ticks have?

The existence of organisms has no purpose, only causes. Ticks exists because they survive on a parasite niche specified to climb and hide in fur/feathers. This simply works, if ticks is a disease transistor is just a byproduct for the same reason, it's a cause by natural selection.

survival, just like everything else
if being a tick wasn't a viable means of surviving, then they would have gone extinct and/or been pressured into something else

me and some friends once rescued a dog that was almost in an awful state as this one. She grew to be a beautiful and healthy dog that got to live till 13yo ^^

Nutrient redistribution. A bird that eats a tick is basically feeding on a deer.

Thanks, as if i needed any more reason to hate them.

>>5113562
True.
>>

I trapped a skunk that was covered with ticks like this, decided to shoot it and then burn it.
Still feel bad about it, but picking 1000 ticks off of a critter with a chemical weapon in its ass seemed an impossible task, and with the way it was walking there's a chance it had rabies.
>>

That's just the food chain
A tiger that eats a deer is basically feeding on the grass
>>
>>5113937
The tiger is actually feeding from the sun's energy
>>
>>5113354
There's no purpose but fulfilling an ecological niche. An ancestor of ticks millions of years ago found it more convenient and sexually successful to live off the blood of others, and it continued on.
>>
>>5113937
No shit, but midwits don't understand that parasites are a significant part of the food chain and think they can remove them with no consequence.
>>
>>5113354
They're great for some of the worst diseases known to man.
