The smartest dog of all, the Border Collie learns a new command in under five repetitions and can follow it at least 95% of the time.

>>5113556Command obedience is more of a measure of neuroticism and slavishness. I had a male husky that always learned in one repetition but would obey less than 1% of the time unless I was holding a treat. If i ever made him do a trick but didnt give him a treat he’d stop paying attention entirely. If i ever scolded him he’d stop paying attention and disobey harder. He started digging a hole in someone elses yard once because I scolded him for trying to pull to the side to sniff and piss on the curb for the 10th time that block. I gave him a leash pop and he growled at me, i smacked him, and he just refused to walk further. He didn’t show me any affection or excitement for months but was always excited to see other people. I felt horrible. A border collie would never do thisA smart person wouldFrom that day I treated that dog like a person instead of a “working animal” and didnt have further problems. But he also never 100% liked me ever again.
