Do you hunt or raise animals? Is it hard for you if you like animals?
>>5116423The old way used to be you and your neighbor (who was also usually a farmer) would exchange the roles of executioner and butcher for each other's livestock if you cared about them. Sparring each other the most harrowing parts.But you can learn to turn it off to an extent or not emotionally invest in animals you know you're going to kill. Humans have always been emotionally and morally flexible monsters when it benefits them. It's easy to see in others but its hard to see in yourself until you do it.
I did rabbit for a few years when I had a job that gave me free produce. Then I tried quail and then guinea pigs. I had about 50 guinea pigs running around my yard but I didn't have the heart to eat them.

I never hunted animals and never will. Short of some life and death survival situation.I never raised animals myself, but grew up on a farm, with all the matter of livestock.I differentiate killing animals for sport, even if you eat them, and eating animals bred to be eaten.
