Megalodon's backbone was very thin for its size. It deviates significantly from any of its closest living relatives.
This would mean that it might have looked like an enormous eel with fins or something.

This is based on actual fossil evidence than conjecture.
People used to think that it was a species of white shark before more evidence came in.
The obese form was shoehorned in as a part of this trend to make everything fat and lame for some reason.
