I started thinking about how much sharks eat considering you always see them swimming around reefs absolutely swarming with fish. Turns out very little, while solphkns and other warm blooded marine life needs quite a lot of food. So with comparable size and diets sharks need pretty conservatively less than 20% of the food a dolphin needs. So hence my question does the fact that dolphins have not been utterly outcompeted whilst sharks have remained relatively unchanging for so long prove that marine life expwriences nearly 0 evolutionary pressure and is thus living life on easymode
>>5120959Broadly speaking it has a lot more stability in environments which means slower evolution and more mass extinctions when it does come. It settled into its meta a lot earlier and evolution has slowed since. Landlife will probably get there too eventually.
