Are raccoons too smart to be domesticated?
they have the same amount of neurons as dogs. but they would just be bred for warfare anyway
>>51212784u
Yeah, kinda. It's more that they can mask.If breeding for tameness like Belyaev did with his foxes, raccoons would be an enormous fucking challenge specifically because they can fake being tame. Were anyone to try, they'd have a hard go of it.But I want them to try. I want a truly domesticated raccoon.
The smarter the animal the easier it is to domesticate.
>>5121278No. The average human is just too dumb for them.
>>5121278>>5121496Why do they wear an upside down dog nose?
>>5121278No, they are smart enough to like free food and belly rubs
>>5121496They're smarter than us and yet they're fucking dumb to wear headphones properly?
>>5121610At least he knows right from left
>>5121278I think we should live in harmony with the wonderful critters, not necessarily domescate them. It would be all kinds of sad for there to be triple XL SMASHED and LAMMED raccs :(
>>5121676Yeah I agree. They are very polite creatures already, no need for domestication.

>>5121629I would hope Purina tests on animals.
Unrelated to cooers, rate this owl
The perfect mammal
and next in line to develop opposing thumbs, hopefully.
>>5122098That’s an adorable picture.
>>5121278Why is the little man flashing jazz hands at me?
Damn this just unlocked a memory of when my dad shot a raccoon and then discovered it had babies. He felt bad and built a cage in the house for them. He gave them one of grammy's fur hats to snuggle with and bottle fed them
>>5121291>they can mask>talking about gremlins in bandit masksI see what you did there
https://theconversation.com/conspiracy-theories-do-300-000-kiwis-really-believe-canada-is-building-an-army-of-mutant-super-raccoons-282478I for one would like to believe in an army of mutant raccoons.
>>5121278I don't think they're too smart as much as we don't have enough of a use for them.Best usage for a domesticated racoon is just a worse manual laborer. With minimum wage where it is it's not worth training a coon to flip burgers when a human can already do it for the same wage.
Brainmogged by red pandas.
>>5124484Did they grow into adults? Did he release them back in the wild?
>>5125722They're all superfamily Musteloid so it doesn't really matter. Red pandas used to be grouped with raccoons.
>>5125596I would pay 20 dollars to watch a raccoon flip a burger for me.
i want to blow a raccoon
Have some coon oc raccanons
>>5125905A woman typed this.
>>5121278something something shorter noses, they are being domesticated right now
why do they need to be domesticated? they seem pretty happy to live with humans whenever they do
