https://www.dailymail.com/sciencetech/article-13268285/breedless-dog-merge-humans.html>If humans were wiped off the planet tomorrow, here's what all dogs could look like in five years. >Today, there's so much physical variation in dogs because they've been bred selectively by humans to accentuate certain unusual features, like stubby legs in dachshunds and flat faces in pugs. >Without humans, dogs would all breed with each other and these 'unnatural' features would eventually be lost
>>5123206>they drew a pit mix (the original natural condition of dogs looks like a shiba inu)all the more reason to get rid of pitbulls - so our alien successors font have to re-domesticate dogs (or more likely, exterminate them)
>However, Dr O'Neill claims that 'breeds don't exist', because this is 'a concept humans invented'.I would hope that he's just speaking in layman's terms.Anyway, the depiction reminds me of a theory that the ancestor of dogs had golden fur, something about how modern dingoes, New Guinea singing dogs, and pariah dogs consistently have this trait. That article doesn’t mention it, so it's probably just a coincidence.
>>5123223(As in, the depiction having golden fur is a coincidence, not the shared trait.)
>>5123206Isn't this just what happened with dingoes
>>5123206These already exist in the form of landraces like dingos and pariah dogs
>>5123206That’s just every third world street dog ever
>>5123223>Dr Neilstein says there is only one breed, the dog breed
>>5123215>pit mixBased, we're in for a bright future
>>5123426>>5123418Notice these exhibit zero subcanine traits like rose ears and block heads
>>5123433They can have drop ears at times.
>>5123206In 5 years shit wouldn't happen. That's not nearly enough time for any huge evolutionary changes.
>>5123440This. There are dogs in Chernobyl that still look like the average pound mutt
>>5123215>the original natural condition of dogs looks like a shiba inuAnon, they would look like the pic in the OP. It's not a "pit mix", what it is describing is more akin to a sighthound such as the saluki or basenji. Dogs were likely domesticated twice which leads to the two distinct phenotypes with one more akin to the akita, but that is only true of the east asian bloodlines.
that's the past tho not the future, stupid blog spam
