What is your opinion on house sparrows? I don't remember seeing them here where I am. They're not native here, for sure, but they're still here supposedly as settler colonials.
>>
They're cute. I once saw a pair have sex. No pics, sorry.

I'm a little mixed. They are cute, but there's so many of them in the cities here that I wonder if they pushed the native sparrows out. I notice that I really don't see them outside of cities though, it's all native sparrows out in the countryside.
>>
I'm a sparrow enjoyer. But they are native here.

Either my eyesight got much worse or these guys are going extinct.

Cats are not helping.

I'm fine with seeing them in urban settings alongside pigeons (which is where I usually see them, anyway). I'd rather not have them invade anywhere else around my area. As of now, I rarely hear house sparrows around where I live in the suburbs, and I'm assuming the native and very numerous house finches seem to give them pretty good competition.

Are you in Europe? Both house sparrows and Eurasian starlings interestingly seem to be declining on their native continent despite being two of the worst avian invasives in North America. I haven't noticed a decline where I am.

It's not cats, it's deforestation. They basically took down every tree around my house.

Yes I'm in Europe.
when I was younger I sometimes would see one of these trapped inside my house, it was common.

I hate those little fuckers. They are non-native in my area and displace a lot of the local birds.

They are cute, I must admit that I enjoy watching small armies of them hop out from under the shopping carts every winter at my local home improvement store.....but the native birds they fuck with are cute too so that's kind of a wash.
