>>5144736Hes dying
>>5144734You forgot >look at my new catIn between those
Jylppy the cat has passed away at 32 years and 15 days old, apparently the oldest house cat in the world.Fhttps://yle.fi/a/74-20237228
Guys so there’s a bit of a pickle I’m in.Neighbors’ cat was let in the house by people that live with me and now the cat has come back twice. I don’t know who the cat belongs to but we aren’t mistreating it.He’s very friendly but I feel like I’m doing a bad thing letting the cat in because he isn’t my cat even if he seems to enjoy the petting he gets. What do I do?
>>5144746It should be fine, just let him leave when he wants to go.Do NOT feed him.
>>5144748>do not feed himSomeone in my house already did a while ago.I’ll tell the occupants to not do that as it might be harmful to cats. Not sure if there is more to that. My problem is I’m a fa/tg/uy who does miniature and scale model stuff so I fear the cat getting harmed by anything in the unfinished basement if let in.
>>5144809Then don't let him in the basement. Cats are not completely retarded when it comes to noxious gases, but don't take a chance.
>>5144746>What do I do?Pet the cat, give it a nice spot to relax in, its stressful outside, if he came to you its because he likes what you've done with the place. Its owners have already given up any rights to dictate its affection or even its nutrition the second they let him out. >>5144748 Anon is right you shouldn't feed him by default, on the unfortunately rather good odds he's got nutritional issues, but that's just common sense and being aware of cat's common issues. I do a lot of /tg/ stuff at home, always had cats. My modeling/painting table is pretty much the only one my cat leaves alone. I'd be more worried about it getting behind an unfinished wall or something than it knocking all your Horus Heresy models off the shelf.
>>5144928
This is Sumi. Sorry she's blurry, she wouldn't stop moving. She just had her checkup today, and even though I thought she was overweight, apparently she isn't. Her tummy is shaved because she had some matting down there. She's 17 and a half pounds.
>>5145196she cute
>>5145203She loves to come in and scream at me.
>>5144809If you have a stray or outdoor cat you let roam, that cat has a dozen people on the block feeding his fluffy ass.
uh hi
>>5145230Man, I love Uni but I hate short leg cats. It's the same with pugs and breeds designed to be crippled. It's such a cruel thing.
All I've to live for are my cats honestly
>>5145246Same brother. Same.
>>5144929
>>5145291

My cat is walking in circles around my coffee table begging for treats.
I love this silly guy
>>5144900>>5144812>>5144748Thanks anons.Cat hasn’t appeared and hopefully is doing fine. My models are guard stuff. But you were close.I have a 3d printer set up in there and maybe bits that fell on the floor and I’d fear the cat’s lungs being damaged or it eating a plastic bit that fell off my desk.
>>5146220>have a 3d printerPLA or ABS?ABS can have bad fumes.
Any other shoulder kots here?I have 2 kots, one specifically goes on my left shoulder facing forward, the other likes to go on my right facing back. Never at the same time though.
>>5146267I wish I had shoulder cats... I'm stuck with my old girl who has a ultra wide thorax.
My kot ran away it's so over
>>5146142I like his pattern
my cat has the stinkiest goddamn turds man, I thought toxo was supposed to make that smell good or something
>>5144746I don't know about other people, but as a cat person I've befriended neighbor cats and it was fine. I let my cat out and if he made people friends I'd be fine with that too (though he is skiddish half feral and afraid of everyone but me)you have a kitty friend, don't worry too much about it
Why do housecats hate water when big cats love swimming? Is it learned behavior from most human owners not exposing them?
>>5146698
>>5146453yes. cats are super dumb and have very limited neuroplasticity once they mature. the degree to which their brain flattens and solidifies is actually standard for most animals and everything else is an outlier. locking in learned survival strategies that got them to adulthood statistically gets them far enough to reproduce several times as long as they stay in their environment. you can and should socialize cats with water because once they grow up they’ll forget a ton and stop being able to learn even half as well unless your cat is an outlier>if such outliers were purposefully bred cats would eventually get a lot smarter, like how smart they are when they’re young, like a small dog with more dexterity>if you can, especially if its a male, delay neutering and cope as well as you can to figure out if your cat retains neuroplasticity and breed the fuck out of it if it does
>>5146706Remember that a smarter pet also needs much more enrichment. Cats can and do get bored, and when they get bored they can be destructive or otherwise act out, and it causes them distress as well. A stupid cat is much easier to keep entertained. There are already breeds known for their intelligence, I have two classic Siamese myself. It's not always the best choice
>>5146724Traditional* Siamese. Sorry. The ones that look more like a "typical" cat but with Siamese coloration (seal point), not the stretched out slightly alien looking ones.
Is it mean to take your cats to professional groomers? I read that it is acceptable if you do it from kittenhood otherwise it is too stressful for the cat and/or the groomer may be killed
>>5147028If the groomer can't handle a spicy cat, they shouldn't be a groomer. As for the cat, it depends on how badly they need it vs how they react. I don't think it needs to be a kitten thing because outside of very special needs cats kittens do not need professional grooming.
>>5146453>Is it learned behavior from most human owners not exposing them? No, at least not consistently, it changes with age I think, as a kitten my boy would spend my showers with me, and would fall asleep in the sink with the water stream I'd leave for him to drink flowing on his head or back, but ever since he got past ~6 months he absolutely refuses to get wet.
my cat just died, took her in for breathing problems on the 18th, first vet who said she had plerual effusion and to put her down... then went to ER, they ran tests and saw blood and heart were good, removed and tested the fluid in her lungs and said it had atypical thingys in it, probably cancer but never got an official diagnosis and didnt do any further testing from that pointall that shit stressed her out too much also; so we opted not to euthanize her because fuck that, she wasn't in pain except for maybe on her last day, today, she did have a few shortlived screaming momentsbut we had 10 good days where everyone got to say goodbye and be with her... not 24/7 because she really had to focus on her breathing most of the time, and she wasn't a cuddly type cat, she mirrored my personality which was very much like autism, she'd like to be close but not too close, would hide when company was over, but yeah ugh it's finally over, i grieved like 17 different times throughout this thinking she was gonna go at any moment, there was a good amount of fluctuation in her breathing, most of the time it was good, sometimes she'd mouth breathe which was always spookyshe didn't want to die imo, was only ~13 but yesterday was the first day she refused to eat and today as well so everything was good until it wasn't silly cat you needed to eat ;_; it's ok thoright before she died she got up and ran underneath the bed to hide her body from predators i guess, some instinctual cat thingit already sucked, it's gonna suck even morethis cat would sleep with me every night for the past decade, always rubbing on my legs letting me know she's my buddy, pawing at my door for me to let her in, and outand she eventually started getting slick and doing fake paws to be let out just in order to get my attention to get up then she'd flop on the ground and stuff or spin and rub on my legs instead of leaving ugh, sorry to her that i didnt pay enough attention to her; RIP
>>5147128I'm so sorry anon

Used some old trash furniture as a base to make a small, catio-inspired window bed for my cat. She absolutely loves it.
Old boy calicoHe's getting senile i think, he wont stop licking the cast iron pan so I have to hide it from him
>>5147337I had two cats that would lick walls. Sometimes they just like to lick things.
>>5147338Yea thats probably it. But I feel like he has changed, he used to be the most vocal cat I've ever seen, now he's almost completely silent
>>5147339maybe he's anemic and is 500iq
>>5147340He used to go inti the bathroom and meow really loud and because of the echo in there you could hear it everywhere in the entire house. That is intelligent. Although I think he just liked to meow
>>5147344if it proved to be effective at getting your attention he prob knew what he was doingone of those cats training their humans moments
>>5147339The only way to tell is to go to a vet. He might have an iron deficiency or something.
>>5147128We have been corrupted by romanticism to think love is necessarily ineffable, but in reality, love is "just" the emotion making us comfortable with letting others inside our personal boundaries. Which is not to say love isn't something transcendental, it specifically is because it takes its origin in our material reality before bringing us beyond it. Aristotle was indeed right, love is the only force which satisfies the conditions of use by God in order to first animate Creation. That cat loved you as clearly as anything can love anything. The end is always really fucking hard, in my opinion harder than with humans because, well, cats don't die with dignity. While I don't reflexively blame folks for going the euthanasia route, in the end you need presence for your opinion to have weight, I think its worth it to point out it takes courage and strength to keep hope for a better outcome, as you did.
I got these two niglets a week ago from the pound. I already love them.

>>5147411zazed give him a pet for murdering the faggot vermin
>>5147411Good boy. Is there something about tuxedo cats being more aggressive hunters than others? I got this guy a few months ago and he wants to play-fight at least 2~3 hours everyday. He'll sit at the window hissing and slowly drawing his claws in and out whenever there's a squirrel around...
>>5147480I think it has more to do with the personality of the cat I had a white classic Persian and a grey short hair, while the Persian was an extremely lethargic and lazy cat, she would go out of her way to hunt insects, the grey cat was energetic and actively hunted and caught anything larger than a mosquito I have a tux now, he is active, likes to stare out the window and makes radar noises, but is absolutely not interested in catching flies
My cat gets very upset with me that he isn't the size he used to be and he can't fit on my chest anymore.
>>5147758My cat thinks she's way bigger than she is and refuses to stay still when I flop her fat ass onto my lap.

>cat really want to go outside>open the window to let her out>she just stands on the other side of the window, looking inside>doesn't want to come in when I open itNot sure why she does that.
>>5147872Easy, she wants the window open. A passage between home and the outside that she can use whenever.
>>5146220 (me)>>5146224It is resin so it will have bad fumes but I'm setting up ventilation in the basement. There has been a setback on that.I generally close the basement doors so the cat can't get into the basement. The cat showed up again at the door and was let in. A little bit of petting happened. He seemed happy.I tried to give the lad some distilled water but he didn't drink. Just one lick and that was it. I'm not sure if tap water is safe to give to cats.Luckily his collar has his address, name, and phone number. He is a well mannered gentleman, and maybe my cat allergy was just placebo because only my hands got itchy after petting the cat and it may have been my returning eczema.>>5147336she is absolutely content and living her best life. Truly she is happy at your gift. You should be proud of yourself.
Getting a kitten in 2 months. What should I buy to prepare for it?
>>5146220>>5148051Cats eat all sorts of shit. As long as it doesn't cause an obstruction it's just like if you ate a rock or something. It eventually comes out the other end.
>>5148057It depends on the size of the place it's going to live and if you have any other cats. At minimum, a cat box with litter, a scratching post, some soft toys, A dedicated food bowl, either a water bowl or a fountain(keep in mind you have to clean it), And a place for the kitten to hide, like a box or a little fabric house, and some kind of toy that the two of you can play with together, like a cat fishing toy. When you bring it home, if you have it in a carrier, try to put some of your clothes inside. It will help the kitten become accustomed to your smell. Be patient if it's shy. You don't want to do anything to scare it while it gets used to you. Also be very careful playing with the kitten with your hands, because that can train the kitten that hands are an okay thing to attack, even when you aren't playing. If you can, be consistent in how you use your language. Say it's name often. If you need to scold the kitten, realize that it can't understand you, so both pick it up and move it elsewhere while also saying the phrase you will use to tell it to stop doing something. In my experience, snapping my fingers is a really good audio queue, and all of my cats know that if I start snapping, it means to stop doing whatever it is they're doing and leave.
>>5148069Great info, thanks.

>>5148057That you must take weekly / monthly photos and post them here.
Is there some trick to getting my cats to drink water? They seem to mostly ignore the bowl I leave out for them. It gets filled with fresh water every morning.
>>5148093Nah not really, as long as its not in a nasty bowl, near their litterbox, or anywhere dirty they'll take quick drinks on their own. If its for medical reasons you may need to forcefeed them it though.
Anyone have the gif of the cat doing a go away hand gesture and I think the caption reads something like "go away" or "begone faggot"?
>>5148093Mine drank from the tap at first, I bought him a filtered fountain eventually, then he'd sit next to it and look at me until I'd open the tap a bit, and then he'd start drinking from the fountain. After a while he eventually got the principle behind the whole thing.Dumb little boy. You might want to try some flowing water, and also, ice cubes, they like licking them. Changing the water once a day isn't anywhere close enough in my experience, they'll turn their nose up at a bowl as if its swamp water after it sitting still for 10~15 minutes, sometimes less.
why does my male cat eat and then puke all the time. he's like a teenage girl. his sister doesn't do that. do i need to beat him?
>>5148184Could be cancer, unironically. Potentially thyroid problems. Even if it isn't something as serious as cancer or hyperthyroidism, that doesn't seem like something that should be happening. If your vet says>"sometimes they JUST do that"find a new vet because those retards aren't doing the god damn job you're paying them to do. Even if it, somehow, it's entirely benign, it would be useful to understand why it's happening and if there's anything that can be done to avoid having to clean up cat vomit every time he eats.
>>5148093If you're feeding them wet food they won't need to drink much water if at all, cats evolved to get all their water from their food. It's still a good idea to leave some clean water out where they'll find it just in case, though.
>>5148093Try a fountain. Some cats don't like it when water is still, it makes them think it's stagnant.
>>5148184My old girl cat did that her whole life, more when she was younger. Only thing she'd keep down were treats. No vet ever found anything wrong with her, but I eventually stopped bothering. >>5148234>cats evolved to get all their water from their food. That's sand cats, not domesticated cats, the little dummies need to drink, or else they go sick.
>>5148184What kind of food is he puking? If it's kibble, try feeding him canned food.
>>5148184Is he eating too much? Try to ration his food.
>>5146698That is a truly fantastic looking cat, look at those colors.
My cat keeps pissing in my fucking bedroom when I'm in it.I have tried checking for infections, bought a feliway, cleaned my front door cause there's a neighbor cat that might've pissed on it before, and moved litter boxes to better accomodate. He does this once a day and at this point I'm ready to take him to the vet and get his nuts cut off.I'm trying to avoid this because as much as people are on about "muh spay and neuter" I raised this cat from kittenhood and he doesn't mark. He only started doing this when I got a job that changed when I leave/come back and when I got the feliway he stopped, but now he's started up again and I'm getting pissed cause it's forcing me awake. Is there a solution, or am I going to have to get his balls yeeted even if it desu bugs me cause I am also a man with balls and is kind of fucked.
>>5148325Spray and neuter the little shit.
>>5148323I'll pass on the compliment

>>5145203Straight outta skyrim
Should I get second kot or no? Tons of conflicting information on this. Current one showed up as a stray and is about 2. Seems fine gets kind of bored but going outside seems to alleviate that
>>5148466Have you seen it interact with other cats? For example my cat gets aggressively territorial whenever she sees other cats so I don't think I should get another one
>>5148468There was another cat around when she showed up but it ran off so maybe social but not sure
>>5148466Yes, but be prepared to need to bring it back if the cats don't get along. Also make sure to swap smells before you introduce them.
a while back we took in a stray cat who ended up being pregnant an having other issues and we ended up with like 10 other cats and completely overwhelmed. only manage to find homes for 4 of them on our own i spent a whole summer taming her and playing with her to gain her trust and i always felt uniquely bonded to her even though later she became somewhat more distant and stressed out because of all the other cats now in the house we ended up getting in touch with an organization working in our area to help find homes for cats, and today we ended up surrendering her. i guess we'll end up keeping a few of her kittens i chose to surrender her because she had health problems and i hope to God they will get her all sorted out and find a good home for her, since we couldnt afford to provide for her. and im also worried she might have gotten pregnant again when she escaped a while back and we cant handle that but holy shit, it hurts man. dont get me wrong i love the kittens we'll be keeping, but ultimately shes the one i wanted to keep. i spent all that time gaining her trust and bonding with her. it almost feels like ive betrayed her on some level. i have a nagging sense of guilt on top the grief of losing her. especially since it was kind of last minute and i expected they would be taking some of the kittens today, not her. i have to keep reminding myself that she was a stray and i may well have saved her from a truly miserable life. i pray to God she will go on to have a good life.
>>5148486I've had both a mother and her daughter a while back and once she became an adult they didn't get along. Probably a thing where the offspring is supposed to leave when adultIf you were planning on keeping her kids it's probably for the better
>>5148492yea basically she hit a point where she had to fight them off to get them to stop nursing off of her, and because we weren't able to get rid of all them they were bugging her constantly for wa while, and she developed this natural hostility towards them. she seemed pretty stressed out with this, combined with the fact that she was CONSTANTLY wanting outside but we couldn't let her out because she wasn't fixed yet. I ended up getting the boys fixed because it was cheaper but that may have been a mistake since she escaped a few times and may have gotten herself knocked up. it sucks though. in the end of the day, despite becoming somewhat distant, she was still i think the most affectionate towards me. even with the kittens ive raised since their birth, they seem to almost..take me for granted i guess, but i never got that sense from her, she always seemed to really appreciate me despite everything i got really attached to a few the kittens as well, but now that shes gone i feel like i would trade them all to get her back... but like i said, she had some health issues from being a stray, plus the possibility she was pregnant again... i had to make the cold rational choice i really wish i could hold her in my arms again though.theres 3 more kittens the organization is going to pick up hopefully before the end of the month, that will leave us with 3 left who we may end up keeping. i guess time will tell how things will play out once the place is no longer crowded and things calm down a bit and everyone can be more relaxed.
>>5148486>>5148494The only thing you can do is take solace that you put a LOT of ground work into her to get her to the point she is at today. Had you not stepped in, she never would have had a chance. Thanks to you, she does. What happens now is up to her, but you did the best thing you possibly could have done for her. It sucks, it hurts, but just keep reminding yourself that had you not taken care of her, she would have been SIGNIFICANTLY worse.
Why is my cat afraid of both the sight and sound of tinfoil? He's an old fat orange retard who has had several owners so I dunno
>>5148512picrel
>>5148512Can probably hear ultrasonic squeaking at 120 dB.
>>5148513That's good fluff right there
>>5148504for some reason it didn't occur to me until now that the kittens would have been born strays as well and if we didnt take her in when we did things would have been bad for them to. i guess that makes me feel a lot better the entire reason theres an organization focusing on our community is that theres sooo many strays here and by the sounds of it many of them have pretty rough time. there was even someone going around poisoning them a while back
>>5144728Can any kot expert tell me what are the chances a stray cat of approximately 1.5 years old (pic related) still with his balls intact, suddenly starts spraying the house? He's been here 4 days already and no spraying or peeing outside the box. What are the chances? I'm planning on neutering him btw
>>5148592You did the right thing.
I love my cats!
>>5148655He's probably going to have some accident at some point, even if its not willingly spraying. Sometimes they just have tiny accidents while sleeping.
My cat is desperate to flee from the front door every time I go somewhere or return, he has already fled one time for a couple of days and returnedDoes walking the cat on a leash like a dog suppress these urges?
I wonder why the cat is filling the litter box so fast.Used to have multiple cats with a smaller box than the one I currently have and usually twice a day was enough to keep it clean. For some reason the cat is filling it in less than afternoon. Not more piss than usual and the shit is solid enough, so diarrhea or infections is rather unlikely. Food has not changed and no particular mood change outside of the litter filling fast and some maniac need to get under the cover while I'm sleeping.Never done it before, not even it had a tooth infection and it would be expected to search for warmth.Checking with the vet this week regardless, but I'm wondering if someone has had similar experiences.
Is my cat fucking with me?I have a one year old cat, its my first cat, I love him and all that and he's doing great.Usually he sleeps in my bed throughout the night, but for the past three weeks he's been acting like a fucking schizo when its time for bed. He'll sit at the edge of the bed, staring out into the living room, then he'll pan his head like someone is entering the bedroom, until he finally just stares into one of the corners. He'll occasionally get very vocal at this point. There is no one there. I don't believe in ghosts. I've never experienced anything supernatural but this little fucker has been doing this shit for weeks now. I don't think he wants attention, because if I pet him at this point he doesn't really care. He'll also refuse to look at me while maintaining "eye contact" with whatever bullshit he thinks he sees. Obviously I'm not gonna get rid of him for something like this, but I'm curious WHY he does it and WHY it started recently.
>>5148823>Is my cat fucking with me?Yes. I don't need to read the rest.
>>5148823Seems to me the most likely explanation is a mouse or something similar in the walls.
>>5148325gotta neuter him else lil man thinks its his right to do so lmao
>>5148780My Aki had regular diarrhea that she would do outside of the litter box. The first vet I took her to said she had Giardia, which she did not. It took a year and a half before I got the correct diagnosis of IBD. By then it had established itself too strongly, and even after half a year of medications, chemo, and immune suppressants I had to put her to sleep last month.Get her checked out now.
>>5148823Might be chasing eye squiggles in his eye. Or might be seeing reflections or dust. My cat would stare at a shiny door knob because she saw her reflection in it and locked onto the movement.
my brother just got back at 1:30 in the morning talking about he is adopting a cat tomorrowi was very happy at first cuz i really like cats i grow catnip even though i do not own a catbut then i had a lot of questions:>is it fixed/spaded>is it litterbox trained/house broken>shots up to date>is he "purebred" (inbred lmao)>how does he feel about dogswhat other questions should i have him ask?i am currently making a note for him to follow when he gets the catif all else fails, i have a rich friend who has a mansion full of cats that i can give him to the cats over there always seem happy and they have way more things to climb since every room is the size of my living room at least
>>5148970also he gave the cat a gay name, but i understand its his cat and i kept that thought to myself
how do you guys get those pics of your cats outside? wouldnt the cat wander off?
>>5149000Cats don't just flee when you let them outMy girl just chills around the house and then asks for someone to open a door so she can come back in an hour later
>>5149001so she is an outdoor cat? so if i wanted to go on a walk with my cat around a forest, it wouldnt run off like a dog would?also how does a cat become an outdoor cat
>>5149008Our girl's previous owner gave her up because his GF was allergic to catsShe was originally an indoor cat. The first few times we let her out, we accompanied herWe've had her for nearly a decade and she always comes back homeIf anyone is wondering why we let her out, it's because she enjoys it a lot. is it true that if you tickle a cat's paw his claws come out
>>5149000The garden is their territory so they don't wander off.
>>5149008Cats don't go on walks and they don't like being taken out of their familiar environment. An outdoors cat typically has a territory outside the house that it patrols.
>>5144929>>5145292>>5147871>>5148378>>5149406aura-farming regal cat
regal-farming aura cat
Ok I'll stop now
>>5149873
>>5149345Touching a cat's paws in general is a good way to get the claws out, even if its just by pissing the cat out. Cats used to it will often stretch out their paws reflexively, and the few ones that love it will start kneading, so it usually ends up having the same effect. Its best to attempt when they are sleeping next to you, they are usually more cuddly as they fall asleep/wake up. >>5149008>so if i wanted to go on a walk with my cat around a forest, it wouldnt run off like a dog wouldYou can try, but most cats reacts terribly to the leash, worse even with the harness, they just freeze on their side and let you pull them the whole way. Most cats won't want to walk along with you. My old gal that I lost last year, she would, but only around the block, and only if I was a few meters behind her, but any loud noise would make her run and that was a hassle. She was also a very vocal and responsive cat, she'd constantly call out, and if I said "no" she'd let out a little "couic" noise and fall back to my feet. So it's not impossible, but I think it depends on the cat's personality and how it sees you. Even if a cat loves you, its main reflex when feeling threatened is to get the fuck out of there, it rarely perceives you as a source of protection. More even in an outside setting it doesn't know. >>5149000Cats either want to range far or stays in a very limited area, which they know and feel safe in. House cats that were kept in their early life but are allowed out under supervision at first tend to remain close by. If your land has a well delimited fence or even just bushes, they'll usually stay in, even more so if you discourage them when they first show interest in getting out. I've never had a cat just run out and never come back. Obviously, it happens, but I've raised 7 cats now, and always allowed them some form of outside access. I don't think any ever killed anything either, one had a pretty epic boxing fight with a squirrel once, but that's it
>>5149308>I think my cat might be a whore. All cats are whores. Its fine for them because they have evolved for it. > Female can get impregnated by more than one male at a time. > Female adapts their heat cycle in function of the number of males present in order to grant as many a reproductive opportunity and lower male aggression in shared territories. >
Consent is irrelevant
Tradlarpers and feminists will equally disagree, but these are the real ingredients to solving female social malefaction.
I think my cat wants to run around outside and explore but I can't trust him to not get hit by a car or destroy the neighbors' shitWhen we moved to a whole new state my old cat snuck out and somehow wandered around uncharted territory for four days before finding his way back to the new home we've only lived in for a couple days. But he's a big
pussy
so I dunno how far he actually wentNew kitty is an exciteable psychopath that climbs and chews on everything so I'm worried he'll get distracted and wander off and wont come back. Can't really give him an enclosed area to explore on his own either
>>5149948donti just lost my best buddy yesterdayive never felt so hopelessi cant even sleep
>>5149904>Touching a cat's paws in general is a good way to get the claws out, even if its just by pissing the cat out. Cats used to it will often stretch out their paws reflexively, and the few ones that love it will start kneading, so it usually ends up having the same effect. Its best to attempt when they are sleeping next to you, they are usually more cuddly as they fall asleep/wake up. I really think this is another reason why I absolutely adore Maine Coons. I've owned three at this point and all of them actively try to pull back their claws if I hold their paws. They know claws could hurt me and they never want to hurt me.
My buddy died yesterday. Had to put him down, he could barely function due to heart failure. Possibly the worst thing that I've ever had to do. He was my best friend. Please take good care of your cats and hug them Anons. Never neglect them.
>>5150020I had to put my Aki down last month. Even though I know it was the right thing to do, and even though I know I ended her suffering, part of me will always hate myself for being the one that ended her life. She was my best friend too.I'm sorry for your loss.
>>5149948>I think my cat wants to run around outside and explore but I can't trust him to not get hit by a car or destroy the neighbors' shitIf you have any doubt, just don't let them out, or never let them out without you being present and guiding them. >>5149948>New kitty is an exciteable psychopath that climbs and chews on everything so I'm worried he'll get distracted and wander off and wont come back.*That* doesn't really mean anything. My cat spends his days hissing and looking mean at the squirrels outside the window, he's absolutely insane when we play, to the point that I have to be careful with the fishing pole, or else he'll fully run into the walls or jump without caring if there's a good landing spot or not, but when I let him out on the balcony, he just loafs and let the squirrels come up to his face and doesn't do anything. Your boy could be a shredder, or he could become completely afraid and never leave your door's sight. Mines have always been closer to the latter, and I don't think I would have been comfortable with letting them roam, I'm already amazed at how many of the outside cats around my house have survived 5+ years.
>>5149987That's something I keep hearing. I wish my little tux was like that. This little villain got insane hooks, and he's not afraid to use them. > You got to teach them that it hurtsI did. He knows.
>>5150034Mine just intrinsically knew not to try to hurt me, because they don't want to.
>>5150022I'm sorry you lost your fren as well. Yeah I was hoping and Praying he would take my buddy while we napped together for the past week, but unfortunately it never happened. It eats me up that I essentially ordered his killing, even if it was the right thing for him. The worst part is him looking at me the entire time until he died.
>>5150462I held Aki in my lap, the place she always wanted to be, and had to hold her down while they injected the medicine to knock her out first. What I didn't know was that her eyes weren't going to fully close. I had to hold her still as she struggled slightly because getting injected with that much stuff probably doesn't feel good. I felt her breath on my left hand, and felt the final breath...My other cat Yuki who died way too early (I am never using that fucking breeder ever again)... I only saw her final moments because of the weirdest coincidence. Aki had a suction cup attached ledge on a window she would look out from, and it was always falling down. I was laying down on a weekend, trying to get some more sleep, and I heard a bang. For a second I thought about staying in bed and ignoring it, but I decided to check it anyway. In front of me, Yuki was wheezing and heaving trying to breathe. I thought maybe it was a hairball and lifted her up trying to get her out of her bed, to which she exhaled and went completely limp. I threw on clothes, called the vet to tell them I was bringing her in, and drove the 3~ minutes it took for me to get to the vet knowing full well she was never going to be resuscitated. It was the weekend, so an autopsy was impossible, but every vet I've talked to about it said that it likely was that her heart failed, and her breathing was due to that. I was never going to save her. That's two cats I've had die in my hands. A third died thankfully of old age as I pet her on the floor, but... to have it happen two years apart is incredibly crushing.I'm taking Sumi, the cat I got to keep Aki from losing her mind due to me going back to work, who is two and a half, in to get an echo cardiogram because I want to make sure her heart is okay. I really hate the fact that I got her, promised her she'd have a big sister to take care of her, and now she's alone. I have caught her laying in my room next to the bed Aki spent her final days in
My fucking cat contracted a stomach bug of some sort. I took her to the vet Saturday and they x-rayed her. No foreign bodies in her system, but since the anti nausea meds wore off she's back to refusing food. She's refused her plaid diet that the vet prescribed since yesterday morning. I gave her chunk tuna last night just to put something in her stomach but she refused that this morning which is really alarming because tuna is her absolute favoriteI don't have the money to keep taking her to the vet but I know how hard not eating can be on a cat Not to mention the diarrhea I'm just really worried about her at this point She's 4yo
How do I get my cat to stop pissing on the floor? This has only started in the past couple of months after having the cat for a decade. I thought it may have been because I was away for a week but it keeps happening. The litter boxes are barely used, and she goes outside so I really don't know why she's doing it
>>5147198he was like 8 months or so there. this is him now
