>In the late 2000s and the early 2010s, an anime/manga about Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, and Imperial Japan was very popular. How did this happen?
>>941173162Dumb teenage otaku girls liking current thing with cute animu boys
>>941173162Fujos pay a ton of money for that shit (even more back then) and the dub was pretty good.
>>941174446This. I never knew anyone who liked this show who talked about the actual show— they only ever talked about shipping the characters together. If that’s someone’s cup of tea, then whatever, it just always blew my mind that such a nothing show was popular at all just because girls wanted to see the characters fuck.
>>941174569Eh. It wasn't horrible for a 4-koma adaptation, but the second series was objectively garbage (because they fired all the writers who actually researched). If you're a historyfag, you might get some laughs out of it but it is definitely a fujo schlick-off anime. I didn't know that was a thing and just assumed it was a show for historyfags such as myself.
I remember liking this show. My Dad hated it lol. He called it gay.
>>941177506He was right.
>>941173162Really? it was?
>>941177544It was all over LiveJournal and tumblr sometime between the late 2000s through 2015, and many YouTube videos of it were fan edits and AMVs. There was even a Civilization IV mod with the main Hetalia characters as civilizations based on the countries they represented.
>>941177784Did it have its own anime? If so, I might have at least seen episode one.
>>941178087Yes, the Funimation channel on YouTube ran the series for a few years. I think that channel merged with Crunchyroll, now.
>>941178232Well I guess it's time to review this anime again.
>>941173162I watched that when I was a teenage boy, even gooned to r34 of some of the characters since I was both a country humans/history/politics chud and I had an interest in symbols more than actual people.I remember when I was watching an episode or clips of an episode and my mom wanted to tell me something, I had my headphones on and I said “not now” and she yelled at me “YOUR GRANPA DIED”. This shit scared me and now I can’t rewatch it lol.
Well you all didn’t tell me how to work a mech clock now I won’t tell you how to make a light saber.
>>941173162>was very popular.I was into manga and anime throughout the 2000's. Never saw this. Couldn't have been that popular.
>>941173162Anyone have a torrent for the complete dub?
>>941173162Some guy drew a manga and some other guys made an anime out of the story. What do you mean "how did this happen"? Also, "Ah, pasta tabetai na~".
>>941182578I found most of the series with dual audio on the cat. Any part you think is missing?
>>941182578it was on netflix and that's a big part of it, but it was also popular for it's edgy humor, which is something that anime has always had
>>941184808It was the 2000s, when the world was pretty much at its lowest point in modern history. It was the time when the 9/11 attacks happened, and the American and British invasion of Iraq.
Back when this show was popular, I got so catastrophically shitfaced that my mother was worried about the my health. When I woke up the next morning, I felt so bad about making her worry that I pulled out my sister's DVD set and watched a few episodes to punish myself.
>>941185719>hetalia>edgy
>>941186877you have got to be kidding. In the 2000s the world was at its "lowest point in history"? Are you completely ignorant of world history or just suffer from dumb opinions?
