Had some real fun interactions and enjoyed sharing notes about it with other anons who had enjoyed mom-son IRL roleplaying. Honestly I credit a couple things with its decline. For one there's simply a lack of new material. With AI becoming popular there were just a lot fewer original new pics to post, so threads got stale. Of course there's tons of AI /ss/ pics, but part of the appeal of this for a lot of people is the intimacy and emotional connection, which robits can't emulate authentically and so people got bored of that too and kind of soured on the whole genre.

I'll also attribute it to simply too many threads were made in quick succession. Right after one thread would die, another would pop up minutes later. It's like people were trying to make /ss/ threads another one of those "eternal" threads like you see for other topics. The problem is, there just isn't enough new material to keep that pace going. It did get stale after a while. What really kept it going for so long though, in my opinion, was the interactions and stories shared amongst genuine enthusiasts. Even if the art was stale, I still keep coming back for that stuff. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted. Perhaps once some new art has a chance to accumulate, we can reinstate somewhat regular /ss/ threads, but learn from our past mistakes.
