Jesus enables people to be reconciled to God. He will judge the living and the dead, either before or after their bodily resurrection.
>>944162875that's Paul's theology, yesthat's not what Jesus taught, thoughJesus taught "repent now, because the end is nigh"and then, at his crucifixion, he realized that the end was not, in fact, coming, hence "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"Jesus inaccurately predicted the end of the world, and so did Paul>For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will be with the Lord forever. 1 Thess. 4:15-17
>>944163289You have to actively not read the gospels to come to that conclusion. Even the quote you gave of Jesus is him quoting psalms 22, a prophecy about the messiah. Jesus calls himself God all over the gospels and calls people to put their faith in him. He predicted his crucifixion and his resurrection. Read the gospels for yourself instead of listening to armchair theologians.
>>944166726>Even the quote you gave of Jesus is him quoting psalms 22, a prophecy about the messiah.i am aware that it's a quote from Psalms 22, just as i'm aware that the account in the gospels of lots being cast for Jesus' clothes never happened and was included because early Christians read Ps. 22 as a prophecyit wasn't a prophecy, of course, it was David (or more likely someone using David's name) complaining about his situation and serving as a hype man for YHWH>Jesus calls himself God all over the gospelsnot reallyit's certainly implied, most strongly in John, but Jesus never calls himself God in the gospels>and calls people to put their faith in himpost chapter and verse, and don't use John>He predicted his crucifixion he didn't, but the gospel authors did insert scenes into their writings of him doing so>and his resurrection.then that would be another failed prophecy, since of course, he wasn't resurrected>Read the gospels for yourself instead of listening to armchair theologians.ironic for a couple of reasons:1. you're parroting what your pastor says.2. not only have i read all of the gospels in English, i've read large portions of them in Greek

Why can't atheists define atheism? https://youtu.be/ZLv_r1btKAc
>>944163289That verse is often used to justify "rapture" Paul wrote Second Thessalonians solely to debunk that false teaching.Christ taught that Armageddon would occur when Israel was in the midst of birthing pains. So after the re founding. On the cross He specifically said "eli eli llama sabacthanni " Not his mother tongue.Just to fulfill prophecy of Psalm 22 which predated the existence of Rome.
