What is the most expensive MTG card you own?
I have a revised Bayou, but the most expensive card I ever had was a Revised Underground Sea that I sold years ago.

Nice! I guess it makes sense the most powerful creature ever printed stays pricey, even though banned in a lot of formats.

Proof?

>>944250454
What's that worth? I know the serialized one is $$$.
>>
>>944250454
doesn't seem very good

I started during the Revised era (yes, I'm that old). I have a couple dozen duals including four Underground Seas. Unfortunately playing with sleeves was not a thing back then so half of them are in rough, but playable, shape.
Also unfortunate that I never managed to get any power 9 even though I really wanted to. I was poor as fuck and couldn't afford a $50 black lotus (yes, that was the going price, per Scrye, and all the dual lands I paid for were $5 a pop).

It's not expensive because it's good (although it is pretty good). It's expensive because WOTC wanted to make it collector bait, as they do with all the sets now.

No idea, could have a bunch of money. I draft prereleases and toss the cards in a box when I'm done, been doing it since Rise of the Eldrazi came out.

Haven't been playing much with that faggoty universes beyond shit being every set now.

I have a super weird dragon that requires so much mana of every color and non color you'd have already won the game to even pull the fucker out. It'd just be like I'm fucking with you and I can't believe other people wouldn't quit if you were actually able to play it. I just need to buy a shit ton of plague rats before I give a fuck about playing this game

Ur-Dragon?
There's lots of ways to cheat out cards, but yeah, there are definitely cards that were created because it's fun and flavorful rather than competitive. Most, really.
>>
>>944252857
No. That has a useful ability, this is just I have so much mana available that like summoning it is unquestionable unless you are so fucking bad it's an insult if someone isn't explaining how the game works for this to actually be pulled. If you can't convert colorless mana to mana I mean it's so ridiculous it's almost impossible this thing can be used
>>
>>944253162
Other than the Ur-Dragon, the only other 5-color dragon with colorless also in the cost is Tiamat, which is pretty shit. Sneak Attack + Tiamat doesn't work since it wasn't cast, and it only puts cards into hand instead of playing them, which is fucking ridiculous for its cost. For a similar cost you could literally just outright win (Coalition Victory).
>>
>>944253162
I mean this is why you sacrafice a card for a card and try to never show anybody you're super rare weird I'll trade you a card thing unless we're in a gamble thing about cards and this is the only weirdest sorcery card you can trade this card for another. Sort of like that bowling game in that movie when you kind of lament your life decisions and you know it's not that card, you never play that card it's always a bit of a thing when you want a real private gambling thing.
>>
>>944253382
Nice fishing attempt, you're biggest dragon mana only requires 5ish, not fucking every color and non color available and it's the most unusuable card in existence.
>>
>>944253382
Fucking come back when you're dragon needs every mana source and non mana source available and is practically impossible to cast unless you're just flexing and it'd take in insane amount of fuckery for a game to even last long enough half your deck would have to be a mana card and some fucker about non mana. It's the most useless fucking impossible fucking casting dragon possible in the game. I don't think you can fathom how badly a game would have to go for this to ever fucking be casted.
>>
>>944253654
I'm not kidding dude, you'd have to do some fucking I'm going to win a bowling championship before beating bill murphey in a MTG game before you ever have enough mana to play this fucking thing.

My best friend's older sister got a job with WotC shortly before Alpha and Beta were sent out to stores. Part of her job was to drum up hype and interest in the game, so they gave her pallets that were packed with those cases of starter decks you'd eventually find in stores. Instead of distributing them herself, she just gave them to us to do whatever we wanted with them. We gave out a bunch to our other friends and kept the vast majority to ourselves.

Needless to say, I had multiple copies of all the bullshit and good stuff that was in those sets. Just like you said, though, sleeves weren't really a thing for us, so those cards got beat to hell and back. I kept playing and collecting up until around 5th edition and stopped right before I left to go become a Zogbot. My mom packed up all of my stuff and ended up putting my giant box of cards down in the basement with the rest of my stuff. I didn't even think about them when I got out and started living on my own.

Fast forward a bunch of years and another friend of mine bought me a fat pack of Mirrodin Besieged since he knew I used to play and wanted to drag me back into it. I remembered that I had that massive box and went back home to go grab my cards and start making some decks, only to discover that the cards had succumbed to the slight bit of moisture that was ever present in our basement. I lost pretty much 95% of my collection and the few cards that were not outright destroyed weren't in any condition to see play.
