The Carmona Wine is a 2000 year old urn of liquid wine that is still technically drinkable. The Speyer Wine Bottle is also an Amcient Roman bittle containing wine, though the contents have since partially solidified. The seal on the bottle is a mixture of olive oil and wax which has kept it airtight since the fourth century CE. So possibly a jar could contain a brine of higjly acidic vinegar and a lot of salt along with whateber you were attempting to pickle, then sealed in such a way to make it 100% airtight, additional sealing to the outside of the container could be done to further prevent the possibility of any bacteria from getting inside the vessel, then storing the jar in a very cold, dark, and dry environment could further help prevent bacterial growth. But this is all theoretical. Maybe someday I should try it. Do some research into how the Romans sealed the Speyer bottle and Carmona Urn, look at how long salt takes to lose its ability to prevent bacterial growth over time and look at the strongest kinds of vinegars used in food production, and look into the best kind of vessel to make pickled foods in for naturally long term storage under normal circumstaces.
