Would you rather buy a prebuilt pc or make your own?
>>
>>944816184
Make your own.
Also, make you own keyboards (but NEVER use Cherry Browns!)
>>
In this economy?
>>
>>944816184
build your own, more bang for your buck
>>
>>944816184
making your own is too easy not to do it unless you find a good deal somewhere

What about warranties
>>
>>944816184
I just bought mine outright, and got a couple ram sticks and ssd later on. It works great.

Most of the time...

Sometimes I get a critical system failure on startup, and my hardware does support windows 11.

Also I broke an audio port while I was putting in my ram...

Build your own if possible
Some decent places can charge a fee and you just pick the parts. If you dont have a space PC lying around I'd recommend this route as troubleshooting components without an extra one is very difficult

Prebuilt. Only buying a PC once every 4-5 years anyways, I think it's worth a splurge.

I also keep getting them built in a way that allows extension later on (more hard drives, more RAM, etc.) and I never upgrade it, I just get a new PC anyways.

Up to you anon.
More value for what you spend, but it gets very tiresome when something goes wrong.
I was more enthusiastic when I was younger, now I just want shit to work.

>>
>>944824829
I already got a new case, Silverstone FLP02, it's sitting next to me.
I'll install it eventually, whole build is probably the last PC I'll ever make (even got ahead on the RAM prices, 64gb DDR5 5600mhz).
So even though the 5080 will be gold by the end of the year, I still want it, y'know?
Just so fucking over cable management and shit

Sleeper bro.
Dunno why, but the idea of putting a 5080 in that case is very funny to me

only thing funnier would be putting a 5080 in an old emachines case. Can't happen, but would be funny if you did

Before I saw the Silverstone case, I was initially tossing up between two different Fractal Design cases.
A Torrent in white to match my components, or a North in black cos I'm a sucker for woodgrain.
Both have some good ass airflow and features, big difference was just the aesthetic choice.
Could be worth a look
>>
>>944825744
It's expensive as fuck, and you literally do not need to do that
>>
>>944825874
Like I can talk, I'm a filthy prebult pleb. If there was only an option to buy all the parts and pay a tech guy to built it
>>
>>944816184
recently bought some prebuilts for my friends from costco. there were sales going on and the ram prices were starting to explode. it actually outpriced building it myself
>>
>>944826486
A lot of places will offer that. Like, you pick your parts, they put it together and ship it to you.
I had a job trial at a place that does that here in Australia.

You could probably find a local repair shop that has someone who will do it for cash. Those dudes are putting shit back together all day anyway
>>
>>944826175
If you don't splurge on anything else, you can afford it
>>
>>944826854
It's not about being able to afford it, it's just a waste of funds...

>>
>>944816184
I set my laptop down on its side while it was open, and the optical drive tray got snagged on the carpet and when I picked it up, I pulled the optical drive tray out and it ripped a bunch of other stuff out of the computer and now it doesn't start.
>>
>>944816184
They always put trash parts in prebuilts unless you spend too much. Never take a prebuilt unless it's free or somebody with standards did it for you.
>>
>>944816184
I always built my own until just a month ago I bought a prebuilt. Was cheaper than the cost of the parts.

>Make my own: it works
>Get prebuilt: it doesn't work
Simple choice really.

Pre-builts have too much fucked about them: the tech making it can fuck your shit up, be shit on the thermal paste, or the overall design is shit and can't be expanded. And yes, I know this from experience. I was lazy and got a pre-built from Micro Center, lo and behold it won't run for longer than 1 hour. Tried taking it back and they "fixed" it by which I mean they did jack shit for the problem. Gave em a 1 star for that shit. Meanwhile, my build worked for a decade + with no issues till the bios shat it's pants finally. Also, all the Dell pre-builds just SUUUUUCCCK at work. So shitty.

When you build your own you can spec out exactly what you want for ports, drives, and connections, on top of capacities. It's SO much nicer.
>>
>>944823179
What? I upgraded my GPU and ram and drives in my build. Why would you not?

>>944829831
We're in that weird spot where suppliers are sitting on "cheap" stock from last year while prices for new stock is skyrocketing. That will disappear once inventory clears out OR they catch on and up their prices for more $$$.
