The prison-industrial complex is a thing and it's fucked. It's easy to say, "Who cares about them? They're just criminals lol!" But a system that incentivizes finding people guilty to facilitate slave labor is more inclined to find people guilty. And either you believe in the adage that it's better for 10 guilty people to go free than for even one innocent person to be in prison (which is basically the foundation of a free society) then you need to be the for-profit private prison companies. Yes that's a thing. So I'm sure this thread started as a meme, but there are definitely some serious fucking issues that need to be dealt with.
