Look at our cultural icons. All the new 'celebrities'; streamers, podcasters, youtubers that have dominated the landscape of entertainment and command opinion.
People whose names have rapidly become household over just the last few years or more. We all know who they are. Regardless of what kind of person you are, there is a circle of entertainers that have risen to notoriety sating your need for entertainment, for opinions, for guidance.
These people command respect and possess a place in our psyche. Inevitably, we end up comparing ourselves to them and see their actions as aspirational even if we dislike them personally.

Why do none of these people ever *do* anything?

Do people like moistcritikal and Asmongold have any sense of purpose in their life beyond being sockpuppets for an existing opinion?

Regardless of what you think about Tucker Carlson, he also brought up this point about our icons today, though he was specifically talking about those in the podcast space. Why do none of these podcasters who talk about all sorts of topics ever run for office? Why don't they start foundations? Somebody like Joe Rogan could do basically anything he wanted to influence the public consciousness but instead it's thousands of episodes of the same conversation on repeat.

Why do none of these people challenge the glaring problems in our historical narrative, the broken institutions that barely hang onto power? I don't think any of the big names have any risk of losing their audience at this point. Why do these people, who are household names, ever have ambitions? None of them create relationships or partnerships that empower mutually; they're all seemingly in competition for the most attention. They might occasionally identify the problems in our society but they never create solutions.

what do you mean by "do anything"?

2 options:
a) They're controlled opposition.
b) They know if they threatened real power they'd be squished like an ant.

I don't know; things weren't always like this. Writers got jailed. Actors ran for office. If it were that simple we'd see more careers destroyed by 'unacceptable actions' and people getting blacklisted for stepping out of line. But we never even get that close.
It's like brainwashing has taken full effect.

because they're podcasting. Thats a thing people do. If they were doing other things, they wouldn't be podcasting.

>cultural icons with more power over how people perceive events than any politician, writer or musician

>they're just podcasting

try actually doing something that takes coordination with your life. Its a time sink.

I swear politics is just religion for wankers.

Are you making an argument or an observation? Being successful is obviously situational. I have no idea what you mean by "coordination."

You know what. I believe you. Have a nice day.
