Before spreadsheet software there were people that calculated spreadsheets by hand for companies. Their entire job was going cell by cell and doing all that mins numbing math. It wasn't difficult, just extremely tedious.Then Excel comes out and can do 40 hours of their hand calculation work in 0.8 seconds.

He was just hired on and his standard MO was to fire the lowest performing 20%. There was outrage, there were protests, but someone, like 10 years later, went and tracked down a bunch of those workers to see where they landed. All of them said something along the lines of "Oh my god, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I didn't realize how unhappy I was, stuck in that routine for a paycheck. Since then I opened my own store and I do what I love and make a lot more money doing it".
