I worked as an intern for a certain Senator whom I will not name, but needless to say I came from a very liberal upbringing and graduated from a very liberal university so you can figure out which side of the aisle we were on.

I will tell you this. I knew nothing about the world or how government really worked internally in getting things done, and you may be shocked to learn my political leanings later shifted to being Libertarian. Why? Because when I got into politics, I thought the people that represented us were mostly good people. They were not, at least not on my side of the aisle. The Democrats I worked with daily were just the most despicable human beings and liars I ever encountered. I will also tell you there were some, but very few like this on the other side of the aisle (Republicans) but they were few and far between, mostly kind and real human beings that actually believed in what they stood for and didn't lie about everything and treat everyone horribly when the camera wasn't on.

I am not trying to make a commentary on political parties, but rather pointing out that one may have strong opinions they are 100% confident they are right about and believe they hold the moral high ground, yet later find out if they ever get the chance to see behind the masks, that they were dead wrong and had it all backwards.

I am thankful for my experience, and acknowledge few will have such opportunity to see behind the masks, so I thought I'd share this here. I have no agenda and am Libertarian at best, on some issues still liberal, and as I grow older more conservative as I get wiser.

The very short answer to your question is "because Trump wants them out". There is more to it, but Trump ran a platform of reducing illegal immigration in the United States. As he's an excommunicated Democrat, liberals will do everything in their power to thwart, oppose, or otherwise fuck with Trump. Their religion demands it. You could make the argument that "Oh, then he should just embrace illegals and liberals will throw them out for him!" but remember: there are more people out there then just the religious nuts. The majority of the country (MAGAts, rightists, and many centrists and leftists) agree that the issue needs to be addressed. I'd like to, but I'd just be generalizing so I am hesitant to because it is based on personal experience and I did not meet every Senator and every Congressperson during my tenure. I started out as an Intern during the summer before my senior year (I went to any Ivy League school, but I won't name it) which is basically just a position where you get coffee, make copies, do simple stuff, but you do in fact see people on Capital Hill regularly every day and they get to know you a bit. The Senator's Chief of Staff offered me a position when I graduated as "Staff Assistant", which basically is a fancy term for someone who both coordinates interns, manages mail, greets visitors, with higher office management responsibilities. About 2.5 years later, I was promoted became an LC (Legislative Correspondent) which includes researching and drafting responses to constituents, other legislators, etc. Then 2 years later a position opened up as LA (Legislative Assistant) which I put in for and got, and managed a legislative team and help actually draft (preliminary, not final) legislation. Only the Chief of Staff and then the Senator ranked over me. I essentially ran the office as CoS has other things to do. So I met plenty of Senators, Congresspeople, their CoS, and their LA's along the way, every day. We'd go out together too, lunch, etc.

I can only tell you that I thought Democrats were the good guys when I first got into it. I found out they were absolutely not. They were the dirtiest, and biggest backstabbers even amongst each other. You could never trust their word, ever.

Republicans for the most part are the exact opposite. Their word was solid, if they gave it to you. They wouldn't lie to your face, ever. They also seemed to actually care about whatever issue they championed. Democrats mostly didn't. It was all a facade for them to make deals on other things that put money in their pockets.

I was disgusted and left eventually, mostly because I was liberal but disillusioned when I found out what my liberal representative were really all about.

I'm still quite liberal, as I said, but I can no longer support the Democrat Party, as I know who and what they really are now. I consider myself an undecided mostly, but if I had to chose a party, it would be Libertarian because I am all about maximizing liberty and don't believe government should be intervening in social issues, independent of my position on any given social issues. The Democrats also use social issues as a weapon, and I strongly dislike that deception, when in fact they don't really care about social issues at all, nor do I believe government should be involved in anything but governing, and not social issues. I also find the fact that the Libertarians are more for small government, much like the Republicans are, attractive, and Democrats only want big government and the government controlling every aspect of our lives.

As I get older and make more money, I also appreciate that Republicans are all about growing the economy and understand that it is the U.S. against other nations that grows us economically. Democrats don't seem to grasp that simple concept, that the "enemy" economically is outside our borders and as they grow and prosper (and rip us off) we decline and suffer and that has nothing to do with internal U.S. economic matters.

Anyway, I hope this helps lend you some insight into how the machine works. In the end, this is just my opinion, but it is an informed opinion.
