I think it's more realistic especially when light and external environments are applied. It also matches the subject of your art, especially the gory and gruesome stuff, I think those won't be as effective with bright colors. Maybe because I have a fatigue for overly saturated colors and pop art, even though that's how I color my work too. People just aren't brave enough to do muddy coloring anymore if that makes sense lol
