Was 4chan really good as what oldfags say back in 2003-2011?
>>
No.
>>
>>950482850
why
>>
>>950482808
It was a lot faster. Threads would 404 in minutes. Not hours. Bans used to block the entire site, you couldnt even lurk.
>>
>>950482863
This was never a cool peter thiel secret club

Also it was never a Paypal mafia you hear stories of several accomplished individuals pointing back to 2003-2011 4chan was what made them epic

Third it was also because of the age and culture.... people were friendlier before smartphone and social media. But it was culture... And novelty and it wore off... Not even part of university life anymore...

You don't even see much life anymore
And everyone says is the fault of browns and third worlders because they are poor and when the internet was epic it was whites and rich only

Absolutely better back then. Much more activity, less “big brother” watching everything. Heck, I guarantee there are large corporations watching some of the stuff here for stock tips or other shit. Old 4chan = best 4chan.

We were fucking assholes in the 90s and 00 era.

I know, but I mean something else too... Collective self understanding and identities and self perceptions were somewhere else.

4chan was good from 2003-2008. Chanology started in 2008 and it was all downhill from there. For like a year after a bunch of retarded faggots went shitposting IRL the entire board was plastered with OPERATION: (name) threads where retard fags would spam other gay causefag bullshit.
Before Chanology (and mostly during) /b/ wasn't full of porn. I'd say perhaps 30% porn 70% actual content.
The quality of the porn was also much higher. In the "good old days"; people didn't just dump random low quality dogshit. People would find really high quality porn, or even paywalled porn and come back and share it here.
I remember tentacle, nekomimi, and guro threads were pretty common. Every once and a while there would be a trap thread mostly full of Line-Trap stuff and I can't even remember who else.

Then there were EFG threads, or slowpoke threads, or get threads, macro threads, meme threads, template threads, any time something funny happened on the internet there'd be a thread about it here.

There's a reason 99% of memes and internet culture originated here during that period of time.

Yes. The site was way better. Anyone telling you otherwise is either pretender syndrome-ing, "/b/ was never good" without realizing that this was to keep retards off the site, lying, or genuinely wasn't there.

this

id love to know the sites stats, the drop off must be huge

threads on /b/ last days at a time now - it used to be like an hour maximum
>>
>>950487282
there is a site called "4stats.io". but beware, the drop off is huge
>>
>>950482808
Yes, it was all humans.
Fun fact - 4chan used to not have captcha at all. I was here when moot first introduced it. Probably back in 2007 or 2008.

Think about that - 4chan existed for a few years with no captcha because the entire internet was different back then. It was easy to spam lots of websites back then, but nobody really did. The inernet had different energy back then - it wasn't a bunch of schizophrenic coomer SJW-or-anti-SJW faggots, it was just a bunch of harmless dorks.

Now /b/ is mostly bots.
>>
>>950482808
here are some pretty old /b/ archives sadly not that interesting . https://vyrd.bibanon.org/rx/

>>
>>950487563
I actually expected a larger drop. /b/ seems way more dead than that site shows, but I think it's because of the OTK bots more than anything.
>>
>>950494589
I mean the OTK bots are making the stats look better than they really should be...

I saw encyclopedia dramatica was back. Worth browsing or a soulless reboot?
>>
>>950494638
I've seen those threads daily for probably over a year now I still barely understand what those threads are for.
>>
>>950496184
it's the same encyclopedia dramatica. just don't expect to see any new recent lulzy articles. the whole site has been taken over by tccfags writing about mass shooters.

Old B had good threads...the When U See It threads

I wonder if we ever slipped any niggers into e-books, and I wonder if not selecting all images with motorcyles caused any self driving car crashes. New capcha is gay.

I got laid off the old 4Chan.
>inb4 larp
Met a grill here, set up text on Snap, cross-verified what our next post on the Chan would be = to, and then met in Baltimore for lunch and went right to her place after that.
Fucked our brains out.
Shit was cash.

/b/ was never good, but it was clearly infinitely better pre Project Chanology. Quality started to decline quickly with becoming more mainstream and the hivemind was lost, can't achieve anything like this for the lulz anymore. I also liked that all you had to do was refresh the main page and it was almost all new threads, any thread lasting more than an hour was rare.
>>
>>950482808
4chan before Project Chanology was,

I used to see threads on /b/ and then hear my friend react to them out loud in our dorm, because he was reading /b/ too. Then we'd all have a laugh about it.

It was the funniest place in all of time.

Posting quality hit rock bottom sometime around 2007-2009.
It's been just different flavors of shit ever since.
But it's not like there's anything better.
>>
>>950482808
I enjoyed it. I remember some guy made up a larp about a serial killer and hid clues around the internet. It was so fun! Raids were fun. Creepypasta threads were fun. God, I just remembered how if you asked for help with something and got a response, you'd reply with a porn picture, because "tits are always relevant." I didn't even use other boards. I just stuck with /b/.

Right after project chanology. Also coincides with 9fag. The strength of /b/ was the in-jokes and culture, massive immigration from mainstream newfags ruined it.

everything on the internet is worse now. and youre a faggot

this shitass fucking website made me wait 60s to post this faggoty comment, that's how shitty it is now

>/b/ was never good
what they meant by this was that /b/ has always been primarily a shitpost board, not a place for genuine quality discussions. people would whine about /b/ being a shithole constantly because their gay seriousfag posts would get drowned out with memes and trolling, and then they'd LARP as oldfags and bitch about how /b/ had "fallen from grace", and the response would of course be "/b/ was never good u fag"
eventually though the phrase itself became a meme, and now people will just say "/b/ was never good" in response to any complaint about the board, as if to imply it was always just 100% porn like it is now.

I came here to talk about an autistic story I imagined in my head back in 2014.
In some ways I wish I had been here before that but in other ways not.
I never even saw porn til I was 18. No joke, the first time I saw a pussy pic was on fukung.net when I was 17 on the school network.
I think it's good that I didn't see pron til I was an adult.
But other than that, I kinda wish I had been here earlier. Maybe not age 13, but maybe age 15 or 16. Maybe this place would have encouraged me to commit suicide. I was very suicidal between 16 and 19, even tried it once and attempted hanging and then pussied out and climbed back onto my desk.
I remember when the word "nigger" genuinely shocked me back then.
I do miss the "old internet" even though I only experienced it secondhand. As a kid looking over peoples' shoulders. I didn't have home internet til 2015 and I was 20 years old by that point.

people were more creative and the name random really lived up to its name with the whimsy that people had back then. but that was just the zeitgeist I guess.

>I came here to talk about an autistic story I imagined in my head back in 2014.
Yeah that's why post-2008 /b/ was dogshit. Back then you came here to lurk, not post your personal dogshit no one cares about, that's plebbit level retardation. And if you posted, it was better be for the lulz.
>>
>>950482808
Whole internet was better. People weren't making their political ideas 98% of their personality back then.
Normalfaggots were more tolerable and there were less of them on the internet.
>>
/b/ was never good
>>
The good thing is that there weren't so many repeated posts, bots, or NPC spam.

Most users were American or English speakers, Now any indian or mexican retarded has automatic translation
>>
It wasn’t good but at least it wasnt 90% porn threads
>>
I started browsing /b/ back in 2009 and back then cp threads would literally go until they hit the image limit mods sat back and did little to nothing nothing about cp back then. I was also around for the Jessie Slaughter incident too, I was a "participant" of sorts lol
>>
>>950482808
>no ai slop
>no pajeets

2008-2011 were the best years of this site. Daily raids, OC, more activity than today, and /b/ wasn't filled with 80 different social threads and rate my wife threads. It was the golden era.

These days i can open /b/ and i already know which threads are in the catalog. It's the same ones every day.
