Silver has to start outperforming
>>
>>23229912
It did outperform pretty well recently. Too bad a lot of the miners barely make any money even at 40.
>>
>>23229912
owning gold has been so much more carefree than owning silver ever was. Even if I ended up making more money with silver in the end, it's just not worth the stress. Because we all know silver is the degenerate swingoid metal that will end up crashing back down when this bull market is done with.
>>
>>23229839
I envy the people that were old enough to buy gold back when it was like $400/oz
>>
>>23229938
I mean I guess you're right, but if i were American (Fuck VAT on silver literally paying 50% premium to spot to buy silver here), I would have a monster box of silver under the bed.
>>
>>23229948
>I envy the people that were old enough to buy gold back when it was like $400/oz
So boomers... We all envy them.
>>
>>23229948
you would have done sooo much better just buying the US stock market though. SP500 was a mere 110 in 1980 when gold was around $400. SP500 today is over 6,400! Though gold and related equities have had periods of obvious outperformance.
>>
>>23229993
>you would have done sooo much better just buying the US stock market though.
Yeah, but in boomer times whatever you bought you won. Gold? Win. Stocks? Win. Real estate? WIn, You just can't lose, only those hoarding cash lost
>>
>>23229989
true but hey we can settle for just beating out contemporaries in investment returns. The game is much harder now but it's still winnable.
>>
>>23230002
lol even the boomers who hoarded cash did well I think. The pay was so much better relative to cost of living that even the most retarded boomer made out of life like a bandit, and is still fortunate enough to get a pension
>>
>>23229989
Most of the people buying gold back then would have lived through the depression and done so through their mistrust of banks. Most of the boomers would have sold it off when they inherited it.
>>
I’m cumming on a gold sovereign tonight, maybe the cock, to celebrate
>>
>>23229983
yeah the volatility is one this but the VAT + jewpremiums basically just kill silver as an investment for me.
>>
>>23229993
I was talking more about circa 2001, but I guess gold did spike in 1980. I'm aware that the stock market generally outperforms gold and silver, but you can't exactly hold your S&P 500 index fund holdings the way you can hold a gold bar
>>
>>23230039
>>23229993
You’re thinking about it wrong. This is all a reflection of currency devaluation. It’s just placing bets on scarce things that will have the most demand (most liquidity flowing in).
>>
we're flat
>>
>>23230011
>lol even the boomers who hoarded cash did well I think.
Checked, guess you're right, plus interest rates were like 20% back then, so you could actually save,
>>
>>23230039
true and I do like having physical gold
>>23230060
correct, but some things perform better than others inflation notwithstanding
>>
>>23230026
Back when silver was like $20 I had to pay like $40 to buy it, because of VAT and premiums. Shan't be doing that.
>>
>>23230060
>You’re thinking about it wrong. This is all a reflection of currency devaluation.
Yeah, I mean don't we all here make more money by speculation on mining stocks and stocks in general, probably gaining more than we could ever with our IRL jobs/skills. Personally sitting on 2 years worth of salaries on profit. Kind of funny when you think about it. Working isn't worth it anymore at some point, unless you enjoy the job. Taxes are just way too high these days, the government takes 40% of my shit.
>>
>>23230406
Yeah, I quit a decent job couple of weeks ago because of this same thinking. I want to enjoy this last year of what I think will be normalcy. And I think it’s dumb to think you shouldn’t do large time off if you’re responsible with money. Americans all seem to think it’s weird to take a year off before you’re 65.
>>
>>23230406
A day job is totally necessary when building savings from the ground up for sure though. You need some baseline savings from which to compound. Big difference to gains depending on where you start. Doubling a thousand bucks doesn't mean jack. Doubling ten thousand starts to matter a bit. Doubling one hundred thousand dollars is already multiple years' worth of work for a poorfag working a low wage job (especially if you live in a shithole with low wages)

I think I'm actually grateful that we had multiple years of bear markets in gold miners. Beyond learning about the sector and becoming more sophisticated it allowed me to gather more savings which now matters a lot for my current bottom line. And compounding means making money will only get easier from here
>>
>>23230433
>A day job is totally necessary when building savings from the ground up for sure though.
Yeah, but you reach a point when your day job increases your net worth by 0.1%. Some days i make more profit in a day, than i get paid for the month. Idk seems unreal to me, like something must be really really wrong, for things to be this way. And it keeps getting worse/better every year depending on if you're invested in the markets on not.
>>
>>23230431
>Americans all seem to think it’s weird to take a year off before you’re 65.
Same train of though here, work till retirement never stop. Just slave away even when you stop enjoying the work.
>>
Speaking of making money, everything is sky high (including gold), and bond yields are about to break out to new ATHs. Idk i just feel like 6% yields will cause some issues for the markets. It's just way too high, with inflation cooling off. Long term bonds could be a contrarian play soon for a nice 30-40% gain. Thought on this?
>>
Bonds are a bloodbath, and for a good reason, central banks have been suppressing the rates for too long. But most central banks have paused the open purchase of bonds (some doing soft QE). This is causing rates to return to more reasonable levels. And of course like all markets they overshoot to the upside and the downside. Idk am I stupid for thinking there's going to be a big bounce in fixed income securities particularly US/EU long term government debt?
>>
>>23230480
I don’t know shit about bonds but it’s starting to look hairy enough that central banks might intervene, which would probably be good for contrarian plays, because they generally make things more clownish
>>
>>23230508
I mean I ain't buying gold at $3.5k that's for sure. There are some value plays in the US market, but most of it is in LaLa Land, and bonds have been in a bloodbath bear market since 2020, and a 6% "risk free" isn't sounding too bad, considering you're getting the bonds for a 40-60% discount.
>>
>>23230519
Yeah that makes sense. You saying you would outright buy a 10-year? I try to imagine what things were like 10 years ago and what it’s like now, and I can’t commit to locking up my money in something that long at a fixed rate. Shit can go super clown in a mere 10 years

UK 30y GILTs at 5.69%. Eurobonds moving higher, Treasuries looking like they're going to break above 5%. Yeah, shits about to get real if CBs don't start buying this debt the economy will spiral into a shittornado, turning into a shitstorm soon thereafter. Imagine a 8-10% mortgage with inflation at 3%. I mean you don't really "lock" in your money for 10y, this shit is as liquid as diarrhea. You can buy it at open sell it at close. I think the economy slows down with a 6% "risk free" rate. Consumer debt is going looking good, at least not until central banks start buying the debt again.
>>
>>23230539
>>23230586
Oops, looks like i deleted half the sentence by accident. What I meant to say with the risk free at 6% mortgage debt is going to be at like 8-9% and consumer debt at +10%. All that with an inflation rate of 3-4%. It ain't looking good for the economy. Maybe I'm just schizo.
>>
>>23230708
No you’re seeing clear. I am just thinking that this is going to call on new “tools” that are pure clown. I think gold is late in sniffing it out too
>>
>>23230894
>I think gold is late in sniffing it out too
Gold is literally pricing in the next QE right now. Once the economy shits itself, and they announce QE, gold will probably peak soon there after. Why? Because it means inflation and that means interest rates are going higher.
>>
And QE means endless liquidity for the bond markets, we are probably going to see bonds going up 10% on the week. If what I'm thinking happens actually happens.
>>
Could capital flight into USD for liquidity with these rising euro yields damper the price action for gold in USD terms? As long as Japanese and Euro yields outpace US ones this is possible, no?

Should be a fine pick. One of the bigger silver producers. I rode Silvercrest for a bit but sold before Coeur bought them out, I thought that they paid a very full price for the company. The silver mine Silvercrest owned had some uncertainties with the reserves and I'm not super up to date with how that whole issue resolved. The issue was low reserve life and potential downward revision to the mineral reserves. If you want to buy Coeur shares I recommend checking out news related to that mine to see whether there's been news about the reserves there. It's otherwise a great high grade silver mine. Don't know about their other mines or projects.

>>23234997
the /pmg/ stance stems from the average /pmg/nigger being dumb as rocks. They're literally the Grug from the meme. Most of these guys got on board the pump in junior miner shitcos back in 2020 when the Silver Jew was at the helm, then got brutally dumped on. As a result a lot of the /pmg/ dwellers started taking a hardline stance against all mining stocks. Which isn't that bad of a choice for retards who don't know or care enough to do proper due dilligence. They'd just lose their money again because they would once again buy the shittiest pump & dump scams. They are dumb money so it's smart of them to do something relatively foolproof with their capital.
>>
>>23235122
>major sell signal
Why? CNBC talks about tech stocks all of the time and they've risen for over a decade.
This bull run is going to last a long time.
>>
>>23235134
just the classic MSM contra meme. I only meant it tongue in cheek for now but I do honestly think that the more gold and gold miners become popular as a trade the more important it will be to take profits. Nobody talked about gold the last few years, that was a buy signal. When I start seeing "gold this, gold that" on mainstream media I start getting worried on instinct.

Another classic sell signal is when you start seeing ads everywhere saying "We are buying your gold/jewelry!"
>>
>>23235161

so what causes mining stocks to go up in price/value? I presume they track with increased demand and higher prices.

Also, any recommendations for mining company stocks?
>>
>>23235532
>so what causes mining stocks to go up in price/value?
underlying commodity prices, company-specific results and news, and market sentiment. Right now it's party for everybody since the gold price is sustainably higher than ever before, earnings results and project fundamentals are better than ever before, and sentiment is finally beginning to catch up with the market realities.

>recommendations
if you don't know what you're doing why not just buy the gold or silver miner index? I guess if you need to hear a few recommendations, some of the lower risk ones I like and feel comfortable recommending are Northern Star, Agnico Eagle, Eldorado Gold and Pan American Silver. If you like copper, check out Rio Tinto and Ivanhoe Mines. I don't like giving recommendations though since I would feel bad if something went wrong and you didn't know whether it's time to sell or buy more. Not something I want on my conscience.

Shit sucks and I’m studying trading to get into that and quit when I can reliability make $150 per day risking less than 1% a trade. I’ll have a 100k account so shouldn’t be impossible with the right catalysts, setups and executions.

>>23235878
$100k definitely is not enough to retire comfortably. $1mil is an absolute minimum and you'll be living fairly minimalistically even then. Count in inflation and a reasonable target for "making it" becomes closer to $2mil. A thought exercise I use is, how much capital would I need to coast with a 3-4% dividend yield. With $1mil that'll be $30-40k pretax which aligns with a low income day job's annual wage.

I disagree, idk when it comes to living here like I own my house and 1mil is enough i can buy like 3 flats for 400K and rent them out and the rest is for investing. literally 600 euro passive income per month just from the rents. Like depends on where you live, what you want to do in life and if you own your own residence.
>>
>>23235988
>>23235999

So what's the average like 5k euro per sq/m? Here the cheapest is 1500-1700 per sq/m. Prices are crazy compared to peoples income.
>>
>>23236198
There's a balance for sure. Just need to tune out the future thinking at times to focus on enjoying yourself or focusing on the present. It took some getting used to but I can do that pretty well now. Also I actually really enjoy this autistic investing hobby so that helps. I don't really consider it that stressful most of the time. When it gets stressful I have bitten off more than I can chew and I take a step back. I actually did that back in like 2022, sold basically everything and just enjoyed life for a few months before coming back. It was really refreshing.

Slovenia seems like a nice place to live honestly, not to expensive, it's 99.99% whites/Christians. Real estate is expensive, but it's worth it same with Poland. Here we have like 30% muslims, half of which don't speak/refuse to speak the language. People are uncultured, lack a considerable amount of intelligence and wisdom and are idk impulsive, like not all obviously but quite a few, but things are moving in the right direction, but the muslims will never assimilate so It will never be perfect. Hopefully someday soon I get to post with a Slovenian maybe Polish flag.
>>
>>23236347
Slovenia has IMHO bigger tourist potential
>>
>>23236335
I'd pay that to live in Poland ngl. At least there are no muslims there. And people are cultured like Europeans. I honestly thought it's much more expensive. Like don't get me wrong for the salary it's like insanely expensive, but if you can make money from money and compound, you can reach those kinds of cash in like 3-5 years.
>>

Yeah, bro the country is full of Albanian from Kosovo (like 300k got asylim in the 90s war), Turks (that immigrate from Turkey to the balkan because the government in Turkey literally subsidises the people who do that) and gypsies. All these groups will never assimilate. Plus many Macedonians don't speak English and are uncultured, and have no idea bout European values. so yeah not the best place to live, my neighborhood is good though.
>>
>>23236377
Serbia/Montenegro are good places to live too, I'm actually part Serbian and Montenegrin and could get a citizenship no problem. But still Slovenia is just better. Like Serbian and Montenegro are like a 4M oz deposit, Slovenian is a +10M oz deposit.

>>23236385
Yes, Warsaw prices get pumped by German and Murican corpos wages. Also in general a lot of people coming back from western countries after few years of cleaning toilets and washing dishes then buying homes with cash.
>>
>>23236385
Finland is that cheap lol? I was thinking like 400k eurobucks for like 50sq/m.
>>
Also I was in Zagreb a couple weeks ago, maybe you saw me posting with a Croatian flag, anyway the country looks beautiful and great to live in, but they are importing pakistanis and indians to do low income jobs which is just a step in the wrong direction, these people also don't assimilate and don't respect the culture. I was talking with locals and they had a public transport problem where there weren't enough bus/tram drivers to satisfy demand, so they imported them from india and those people didn't respect the traffic rules and just created a mess, they ended up doing some scheme where they allowed retired bus drivers to work and receive pension.
>>
>>23236483
I guess this is how Germans felt post WW2 when they imported like 5M Turks and other muslims. Like I'm not hateful or anything, but these people don't assimilate ain't much to it. You can't live with them, they don't want to live with people outside of their group anyway.
>>

Maybe in central Helsinki. Over where I live (still in the capital center area but a half an hour's drive away from Helsinki) you can get a 30m2 apartment for €100k. My 35m2 flat cost me €120k. My big brother paid like €180k for his I think 50-60m2 apartment. My parents sold their house for like €350k or €450k (don't remember which, think it was the latter) a year or two ago. You can get a house for less than €300k in Finland if you go into a more rural area.
>>
>>23236447
Really depends where you want to live obviously. Even here in Denmark you can get an apartment for $100k in a smaller city/town if it's a bit old, but still decent. If you want a nice apartment in the good parts of Copenhagen you are looking at a million minimum.

many mines built in recent years have been delayed by a quarter or more without any wildfires. One month due to standard safety procedures is minor stuff. "trading" is risky because you can lose money on trades (stocks and options), investing is the way to go for reliable dividen/interest income. When I was in Spain years ago I saw a few apartment buildings in cities that were clearly abandoned and left in severe disrepair. Weird thing to see in the middle of an otherwise normal city. Likely condominiums that got into financial trouble, got dispossessed by the banks and/or city and then they ended up holding the big stinky bankrupt apartment building bag. Eventually those buildings will probably be demolished with taxholder funds.
>>
>>23244078
Yeah, you get the odd abandoned building here and there. Nothing surprising quite a few of those here.
>>
>>23244183
that's a rare feature over here. It's pretty much entirely a rural issue with apartment buildings in areas with no jobs, declining population and old folks. There's one or two condominium bankruptcies every year. Never in cities. But I guess that's something I could see becoming more common in the future.

I have heard Yergin's books are good but idk if they help you much with investing. They seem more like political/historical books. If you want to learn about investing the best way to start is by reading market news and asking questions.

BMO's price target is probably about 1/2 of what Snowline will sell for:

11:20 AM EDT, 09/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- BMO Capital Markets on Friday reiterated its outperform, speculative risk, rating and C$15.50 price target on the shares of Snowline Gold ( SNWGF ) as it resumed coverage of the company.

"We are resuming coverage of SGD after a period of restriction, due to a ~C$92M "bought deal" and concurrent ~C$10M non-brokered private placement. The proceeds will be used to advance the Company's projects in the Yukon Territory, as well as for working capital and general corporate purposes. With the additional equity added into our model, we maintain our Outperform (Speculative) rating and target price of C$15.50," analyst Brian Quast wrote.

Oil is a bad investment as we are moving to electric cars and many producers actually have very low cost of production, something like $20-30/barrel. I predicted this and CMMG hated me for it. But in the end renewable energy fag was vindicated.

those BMO fags are cucked and can't publish the real target. SGD will blow past C$15.50 before the end of the year and C$30 is a piece of cake in '26
