having a great year in the market, but things haven't been so hot over the last 3, but i just checked and my performance since the 2022 market bottom is now beating s&p again. before that i had lagged badly as well, but fortunately i had very little money invested. i suppose i could have grown it better but i was making a lot of mistakes, thought i knew more than i did, stubbornly investing in value instead of growth. i started with 10k all the way back in 2012, what was supposed to be my college fund but i dropped out of community college. come a long way since then. never earned more than 15k/year waging, now i get 7200/year allowance, used to be just 4800. the year my grandma died i did get a 40k gift, that was huge for me. but today i have 313k in the brokerage, a little bit of crypto, and i'm really starting to take off. obviously things can change, seen dark days before, but i feel like i've learned a lot and am finally a good investor. wish i'd been smart like my brother, he's a millionaire already, earns over 100k, has a family, but unfortunately i chose mischief and rebellion. it led me to a good spot eventually though, and for all he's got he lacks wisdom and is not in good physical shape. and he's balding. anyways rambling but i'm happy right now, investing is an important part of my life and i feel like i'm finally having measurable success. got a ways to go before my all-time is better than the s&p, but i think i'll clear that hurdle someday as well.
anyways watching the russell tomorrow. i think it's important it has a bounce back, that the market reasserts breadth. early signs in futures are that it's going to, and i'm optimistic it does, planning to trade with that angle in mind too, but if it doesn't we might get some hard times. also watch if the nasdaq closes any more gaps, don't think it will but i think we open lower, guess some of the mag 7 are getting sold. don't think we're gonna get a runaway bull market, probably a slow tack upward from here until the consumer economy gets fixed, which is a little ways off still, and this gov shutdown is not helping matters. but there's so much wealth being created with ai that i think it's only a matter of time. gonna take a nap. just sending it out there that i love you babe. don't think you're reading anymore but i'm telling the universe at least, and i want you in my life, by my side.

today seems like it's going to be a tricky day to trade. futes are barely down, but most stocks are pretty red, got the mega caps propping up the indices while everything else gets sold. might be a good day for bearish sector etf's or something like that though. interested why the russell is not down more though, what stocks are gonna pump that up or if it starts to free-fall at open. not buying the bearish case at all, they're just being stingy with the money, letting the market makers make a buck. prices will be higher at some point in the future, but they're gonna let us twist in the wind for a little while. i own a lot of googl so that's gonna relieve some pain, but i think most of my other stocks are gonna have a tough day, and i'm red in the premarket. bmy is green though, maybe they pump healthcare a little bit as well, it's undervalued and often trades contrary to the rest of the market.
today seems like a good day to learn. i feel like i have half a handle of what's going on, but not a full understanding. if we do get a pump early, i do think i'll buy a bearish etf and try to sell the rip sort of deal. otherwise just gonna try to figure out what's going on, how to trade days like this. this move was telegraphed and i was sniffing it out, so maybe in the future i'll be able to take advantage and trade it well, but right now i don't think i'm well equipped. the tell was the weakness in small caps while the rest of the market was screaming, and if you watch the tape, you'll see those small names tick up a fraction of a cent and then get instantly sold down, that's a sign the short sellers are active and confident. so anyways they're getting their payoff today, they might cover and we get a green day, or it might be a multi-day thing. i'm not totally sure.
