hello and welcome to this weeks spaghetti tuesday ٩(◕‿◕。)۶ this is a weekly thread where anons cook spaghetti and post here to share a meal with their fellow banters.non spaghetti food is welcome but the primary focus will always be spaghetti as it is availible world wide, cheap and beginner friendly meaning pretty much anyone can take part.
spaghetti fawkin tuesday on the 'logue
>>23627420<3
I had fish and chips (mash) yesterday. Don't think I'll be able to get some sketti done today but here's a picture of the fish!Based thread and happy Tuesday Spaghetti day everyone!
>>23627437I've never had fish and mash. seems marginally healthier depending on how much butter is in the mash. was that the reason or had they just ran out of chips?>based thread and happy spaghetti Tuesday everyone!<3thanks gon. glad ur here
>>23627443Oh there was a lot of butter in the mash so it was probably as bad as chips! The Pilot is a well known fish and chips resteraunt in the south east of the UK and is notorious for their big portions. The serve fish with chips, mash, or boiled potatoes. I usually go with mash because I prefer it over chips! If you are ever in Kent or Sussex it's worth taking a trip to the Pilot to experience the best fish and chips the UK has to offer!
>>23627454>probably as bad as chipspossibly worse if there's enough butter and ur comparing it to thick chips. some resturants use up to nearly 50% butter in mash xD>the pilot is a well known fish and chips resturantoh nice, ill check it out if im ever in the are a but I've never ventured further south than Leeds lol. the south of the UK looks rlly nice though so ill probably go some day :) is it possible to get to Sussex while completely avoiding London? I'm trying to see if I can manage to live my entire life without ever going there xD
>>23627478I honestly don't know if you can avoid London to get to Sussex... Most trains go through London when they get towards the south east. What's stopping you from venturing into the capital? I live there and it's pretty poggers!
>>23627486there's nothing actually stopping me I just want to see how long I can go without going there xD I've managed nearly 29 years (mostly by accident) so I wanna see how long I can keep this going
>>23627416I hate pasketti
>>23627734do u hate all pasta or just pasketti?
>>23627734It's the funest pasta out there!
>>23627416:Dmaking shrimp scampi with spaghetti tonight
>>23627767:O sounds tasty. have u ever tried actual scampi (langoustine)?
>>23627793not yet, those are those big ones you guys call prawns, right?
>>23627802no, prawns are just any edible marine shrimp. langoustines/scampi are a small species of lobster, you don't have them in american waters.
>>23627822nope, haven't tried them yet, bet they're tasty though.
prawn used to mean the big ones and shrimps the little ones but because the name is not considered taxonomically consistent ppl realised they could get away with selling shrimps as prawns so now its largely interchangeable
>>23627829I've never eaten them either lol I'm not a picky eater but cannot into eating bugs. I can manage shrimps but they are kinda icky and anything larger or which crawls more I can't even force myself to try xD
>>23627839ahh, issues with things that have too many legs in general?
>>23628228only if I'm expected to eat them. I quite like most bugs and dont mind touching them ect but I really don't want to eat them.I'll never understand people who are scared of terrestrial bugs but happily eat other arthropods like prawns, lobster, crab ect xD
dangit I am never prepared for spgtti tuesday!I hope you all get nice pasta
>>23628395read the OP you can still join in :)do u think maybe I need to start making that clearer when i make the threads?
>>23628466No you made in clear enough! I just always keep wanting to put together a spaghette dish and forgetting to keep the thread spiritOne of these days I will! How are you doing however?
>>23628532ah I see. thank you for your interest in contributing I'm happy you like the idea of spaghetti Tuesday and ill look forward to seeing ur spgty when you get around to it :D>how are you doing howeverI'm doing pretty good, im content and comfy which is nice. I never thought id be able to be this calm/comfy without drugs tbdesu most of my life has been an eternal struggle but since like a few months ago something in my brain mustve changed because life has felt a lot easier :)
:D
>>23628601<3
>>23628565glad to hear you have reached a nice place :)hopefully I can feel the same soon (though I am not too bad tbdesu just a bit stressed)
>>23628679you'll get there eventually.I saw this recently and it really resonated with me. I dont know what its from because it dosent seem to be in the way of heaven which is some taoist script.taoism is nonsense but if this is some reworded taoist teaching they certainly have this one thing right.
here's my spegdy :3
>>23628769tasty for youis there meat in there?? i haven't had meatballs in a long time now that i think about itinteresting plate as well
>>23628778tasty for me :Dthere's meatballs but they are veggie mycoprotein ones because the shop didn't have frozen real ones, they are pretty good but more like sausage than meatball in texture.>interesting platethanks, they are by Salvador dali. I can't find any info on if he actually designed them though, they seem to be promotional items for his perfume line or something. the only info i can find is dead ebay and auction house listings. they dont seem to be worth much money either way
>>23628601>>23628630Remilia my beloved
>>23629027i see>there's meatballs but they are veggie mycoprotein ones because the shop didn't have frozen real ones, they are pretty good but more like sausage than meatball in texture.:omakes me want to try them...>they seem to be promotional items for his perfume line or something. the only info i can find is dead ebay and auction house listings. they dont seem to be worth much money either wayehehpretty cool thoughman i used to find weird things on ebayi found some way to view the unsorted listings of an entire regional goodwill, like 60,000 itemsevery 5 or 10 items there'd be something really absurdfound a dark copper colored statue of a chihuahua, which had been damaged by acid raini always think about that one>>23629027>>23629039<3
i might make a spaghetti later idk
>>23629075>makes me want to try themthey are made by a company named quorn. idk if u can get them in the states but ur not missing out on much, real meat is a lot tastier>i found some way to view the unsorted listings of an entire regional goodwillthats cool i love shit like that, its really fun looking through unusual shit from charity shops, car boot sales, junkshops ect.the chihuahua statue sounds funny <3
>>23629168>they are made by a company named quorn. idk if u can get them in the states but ur not missing out on much, real meat is a lot tastieri see lol>>23629168>thats cool i love shit like that, its really fun looking through unusual shit from charity shops, car boot sales, junkshops ect.yei hadn't heard of car boot sales, looks interestingi think my area would be a great place to go to estate sales, if i had much spare money>the chihuahua statue sounds funny <3twas pretty good, hehe
>>23629186>i hadn't heard of car boot sales, looks interestingI think its more of a uk thing but I'm not sure, seems you guys just do yard sales but maybe in the cities where ppl don't have yards there are some car boot sales.>i think my area would be a great place to go to estate sales, if i had much spare moneythat's the good thing about this shit, you can usually get something interesting for like a couple pounds or significantly less. maybe estate sales are a bit more expensive but u can always just go to a charity/thrift shop or something :)
>>23629336:oi guess it could also be worth going to see interesting stuff, even if i don't pick anything up>I think its more of a uk thing but I'm not sure, seems you guys just do yard sales but maybe in the cities where ppl don't have yards there are some car boot sales.i know there's often flea markets near cities, idk if those are similar
>>23629483>i guess it could also be worth going to see interesting stuff, even if i don't pick anything upyeah it'll be fun>i know there's often flea markets near cities, idk if those are similarthey are similar in the type of stuff they sell but a carboot sale is more like a cross between a tailgate party and a yard sale. theres usually no partying but the layout ect is like a tailgate party in that everyone parks in a parking lot or similar space and sets up a table at the back of their car
>>23629111forgot to reply to this sorry.nice trips and i look forward to seeing ur spaget if u make it :D
doesnt fucking make sense it should be spaghetti sunday
>>23630212I think Sunday is more of a taco sort of day
>>23630221no it would be fucking taco tuesday. are you fucking joking?
>>23630222I think spaghetti is a good dish for tuesdays because its easy and quick and tuesdays nights ppl are usually feeling drained but not so much that they just want to sleep so they want to do something chill like make some spaghetti and talk to ppl online.the taco thing was a joke though.
gn and happy Tuesday OP :3

>>23628268hehei remember eating crawfish once, i think that's the strangest creature i've eatena friend & i helped gather them by a creek, it was this small cajun restaurantthey were very tasty & spicy, the meat was kinda like grilled chicken
>>23630286looks tasty for you :D enjoythanks for participating :)>>23630290shrimply the best>>23630315id imagine they taste good but I can't get over the idea of eating arthropods being icky for some reason.glad you enjoyed them :)

>>23630339very tasty for mei fucking nailed the old man's recipe i think
>>23630290just that shrimple
>>23630415nice :) what's in it?
>>23630426following an old man's very shrimple recipeturns out delicioushttps://youtube.com/shorts/ZkmxHaZZvxc
>>23630424:O>>23630415this is beautiful as well
>>23630415Shrimp scampi? I haven't had that in years.
>>23630500nice. I like how simple it is :)
>>23630563needed a good baseline to follow to teally understand this flavor profile, even though i've loved the recipe from childhood.
>>23630885fuck I shoulda said shrimple not simple :/sometimes shrimple recipies are just as tricky to master as complex ones because they require more precise balance. sounds like you have it pretty much figured out now though :)
>>23630907hehei guess some ingredients can be temperamental as wellit's nice how there's a really high ceiling for how good you can make something, even when the recipe is simple
oh fuck just noticed how late it is.goodnight bnat it has been a lovely spaghetti Tuesday but i must try to sleep soon.continue without me and I will read the thread when i wake up.good night bnat <3
>>23630939gngn <3i still dunno if i'll make one or not...
>>23630932>it's nice how there's a really high ceiling for how good you can make something, even when the recipe is simple.yeah that's one of the most fun things about cooking is figuring out how to make simple things as tasty as possible :)>>23630944you should do it. you deserve some tasty spegdy, it is tuesday after all :D
>>23630939sweet dreams dudeme toono choice if i want my 8
>>23630971gngn <3
>>23631013<3
>>23631037!!
>>23630954>you should do it. you deserve some tasty spegdy, it is tuesday after all :D<3i just went to heat the water, but realized the pot is in the dishwasheri guess my parents used it for somethingi will make some pseudo spaghetti though....
similar to what i normally make, but with 3oz of rice noodles instead of 3oz of spaghetti
:o
>>23631522are rice noodles yummy? i should try that
>>23631656>:oindeed..looks amazing
>>23631661they're not bad, but sorta flavorless compared to pastapretty similar though, from what i can tell atleast...
i added olive oil, tomato sauce from a jar, dried basil/oregano, and garlic powderit made for good enough spaghettiyou can cook rice noodles so they're kind of al dentedefinitely works better than using ramen or some other types of noodles would work, i think>>23631656this looks really really good though...i gotta fix my life
>>23631663>>23631679ty ty :)you will when the time is rightstill sounds like a tasty dinner>>23631668kinda sounds like plain rice then which is a very good neutral base to go withi've been avoiding american wheat products like my life depends on itwhat made you switch?
>>23631712>kinda sounds like plain rice then which is a very good neutral base to go withyeesseems like they'd be useful for many things, but i don't know how to cook anything too interesting/fancymaybe a stir fry or something, not sure..>i've been avoiding american wheat products like my life depends on it>what made you switch?ah well, i normally make regular spaghetti actuallythe big pot i use to boil spaghetti was in the dishwasher (i guess my parents used it for something), so i had to improviseare there ethical reasons to avoid it? or are american wheat products bad for you? or what?>you will when the time is right>still sounds like a tasty dinner<3
>>23631737>but i don't know how to cook anything too interesting/fancymine looks fancy but its just rice (soon to be rice noodles!), packaged sausage, and asparagus with red sauce on topasparagus is pretty easy to make, just toss in a pan with butter and heat till soft enough>or are american wheat products bad for you?they spray the wheat with a pesticide 'that turn the frickin frogs gay' its called atrazine and they have to wear hazmat suits to spray it, its that toxicand its banned/illegal in other countriesthere is so much other crap in the bread/wheat its crazy scary that they can call it 'food'its a pretty crazy rabbit hole
>>23631889>they spray the wheat with a pesticide 'that turn the frickin frogs gay' its called atrazine and they have to wear hazmat suits to spray it, its that toxicah, ehehehgood to know the name>and its banned/illegal in other countries>there is so much other crap in the bread/wheat its crazy scary that they can call it 'food'>its a pretty crazy rabbit holei feel likei used to know some of this, but quickly forgotisn't there some company which sells genetically modified seeds for crops, which don't die from their pesticide?i hate monsanto i hate the antichrist......>>23631889>mine looks fancy but its just rice (soon to be rice noodles!), packaged sausage, and asparagus with red sauce on topi see :Dthe presentation is really niceon top of the asparagus, are those chives/green onions & sliced red pepper of some kind?>asparagus is pretty easy to make, just toss in a pan with butter and heat till soft enough:oi'll have to try that, haven't had it in a whilemy mom used to make asparagus, but she always baked it (i think?)
>>23631522:O improvise, adapt, overcome xD id have never thought to use rice noodles, thats really clever. I might try this some time for camping or something :)hope you enjoyed <3>>23631656does this dish have a name? I like the way you plated it, nicely done :) I hope it was tasty for you <3
>>23631889yeah that shit is fucking nasty, you can just get organic certified stuff though u don't need to completely avoid american wheat/grain>>23631968>I hate monsanto I hate the antichristyeah fuck those guys along with Bayer and Dow. >but she always baked itinteresting, I think maybe I've had baked/roasted asparagus before but can't rlly remember what it was like.
>>23632697>:O improvise, adapt, overcome xD:D>I might try this some time for camping or something :)might be good for camping, yeahinteresting ideait's nice you don't need that big of a vessel to boil them in, and they don't take as long>hope you enjoyed <3<3>>23632734>yeah fuck those guys along with Bayer and Dow.ah>>23632734>interesting, I think maybe I've had baked/roasted asparagus before but can't rlly remember what it was like.i'm not sure how it compares to pan-cooked asparagus, but i would guess it's pretty similar?soft and moistsometimes it would come out a bit uneven, or the lower stalk would be slightly tough/fibrousi always liked it though
frogot image
>>23633703>its nice you don't need that big of a vessel to boil them in and they dont take as longyeah that's what I was thinking :)>I would guess its pretty similaryeah I think it is pretty much the same but I can't clearly remember.>sometimes it would come out a bit unevenyeah asparagus just does that, no matter how you cook it the only way to get it super consistent is to use only the tips.
>>23633706I love this image
>>23633826me too me toohehe>>23633820>yeah asparagus just does that, no matter how you cook it the only way to get it super consistent is to use only the tips.makes sense
>>23632697why ty it was very tasty for me it was gone too soon :(>does this dish have a name?no not really, just some easy bachelor food, took about 20min to cook altogether and some cleanup ofc>>23631968>isn't there some company which sells genetically modified seeds for cropsim sure there is a company, but i think you're looking for the term "GMO" which is genetically modified>on top of the asparagus, are those chives/green onions & sliced red pepper of some kind?just cherry tomoatos and green onion but sliced thinlythe thinner you slice them the fancier it looks...and tastes bettter too lol> she always baked it (i think?)thats the neat thing about cooking, it can be done is many ways, just need enough heat :)
>>23633857>im sure there is a company, but i think you're looking for the term "GMO" which is genetically modifiedbut i think they EXCLUSIVELY sell a specific strain of crops which don't die from their pesticide, because the pesticide kills non-modified crops
>>23633857>just cherry tomoatos and green onion but sliced thinly>the thinner you slice them the fancier it looks...and tastes bettter too lolheheit seems like chopping speed/dexterity could be a good way to save time when cooking>thats the neat thing about cooking, it can be done is many ways, just need enough heat :):D
>>23632734>yeah that shit is fucking nasty, you can just get organic certified stuff though u don't need to completely avoid american wheat/grainyeah its criminal!i will def have to look into that, im also on a super health kick right now and i've basically gone paleo hehe>>23633864i wouldnt doubt it, honestly....i just try to avoid it but going to look into certified organic>>23633870yeah it develops over time
>>23633846<3>>23633857>why ty it was very tasty for me it was gone too soon :(>does this dish have a name?>just some easy bachelor foodfair enough :) I like making stuff like that >>23633864yeah they do and you are correct that its Monsanto who do this.>>23633887>i will def have to look into that, im also on a super health kick right now and i've basically gone paleo hehenice, I'm glad ur looking after ur health. unfortunately organic food ect is usually way more expensive but theres a big market in the states for it so it shouldnt be hard to find. most companies producing organic products slap a huge "USDA organic certified" thing on the packages. picrel is the one on my budgie's food that comes from the states, I'm pretty sure its the same one on all USDA organic certified stuff.
>>23633957>I'm pretty sure its the same one on all USDA organic certified stuff.can confirmalthough the icon is sometimes small or hard to see, it's usually fairly easy to spot
>>23634081<3
>>23634105<3
>>23634139does he have to sell/eat all the bananas to get out?
>>23633957yea its crazy how you have to pay a lot more to have healthy non poisoned food but im gonna start looking for that label, luckily my local market has a lot of organic choices, just need to branch out a bit!thanks for the tips
>>23634139i have so many questions
>>23634266>>23634468eheheh...
