Hey! First time on 4chan. I couldn’t find anything online so I figured out of anywhere, one of you guys might be able to help me out. There’s this scammer that’s been bugging me and my friends by impersonating their accounts, I’m sure you’ve seen that rodeo before. Anyway, I want to scare him off. I’ve looked for free phone number lookup services but no luck. (Not paying for any of that bs) Is there any way to get some of his info and use it to scare off / report him? Sure it’s morally wrong to do but oh well, kinda sick of my idiot friends losing hundreds of dollars to him.
I don't know, man...
fed
Not a fed lol I swear, just sick of this guy. I don’t really need anything illegal. Just maybe like a free website I could use or really anything helps. Also this verification thing is killing me kek
>>23641561oh "kek", now you're speaking my language!
Thank you, yes I try
>>23641538>>23641563probably not a fed if i had to guess>>23641535>>23641561sorry but you might be misinformed, this site isn't really what it was 10 years agoyou might get some decent ideas/suggestions but there's not gonna be 20 people who coordinate to help get all this guys info in some ingenious way in the span of a few hours, if that's what you were expecting..there's probably something you could do with a phone number, but yeah, those lookup services suck
lol yk I figured, I’ve heard wild things about here but I appreciate the help either way! Guess I’ll go pay for a subscription I’ll forget to cancel
In the UK you can report it to MI6 or the police, I'm sure the US has a similar reporting system.Probably won't be able to do anything but if they are harrassing you then they are harrassing others likely. You can send links that grab their IP and give you their location but it involves a bit of knowledge. Look up IP grabbers (and be careful not to have your IP taken) someone here might know of a good website to use to get a link like that.
>>23641535This sounds really weird, and I can only roughly guess what’s supposedly going on.I also find it very strange that a scammer would imitate several of your friends at once. How would he even know the connection? Are you sure it isn’t one of your friends messing with you and the others?
pretend you don't know it's a scamjust play along like you're an easy targetbut pretend to be completely tech illiterateif it's a scam then they're after money - and that money has to go somewherecollect as much information as you can about how they want to accept the money - accounts, name on those accounts, emails, addresses, financial institutions, etc - where would it be going if you did send iteach time something goes wrong - like "it says it sent it" or "the screen just keeps loading forever" or smthideally, the more desperate you make him to get the money, the more of his financial information he'll give you.finally, document everything and turn it over to the relevant authorities
And tell me honestly - you’re writing in a really strange way - you’re not in some kind of episode or anything, right? You haven’t had any doubts about whether all of this is actually real?
What he does is find an account, make one with the same username but changing a letter or adding an underscore, adds everyone theyre following, then usually says something like “I’m in the marine corps and you need to send me bitcoin so I can buy these $200 boots”. Sounds dumb but shockingly people fall for it
Yes I’m high off my ass because I took a delirious amount of salvia and I’m actually a ceiling fan as im writing this
>>23641646Ooh okay, now I get it. I mean, with that you can definitely go to the authorities. That’s such a brazen scam that they’re surely on it. That’s definitely seen as organized crime, not some petty shoplifting.
I could report it. Thing is tho if you have a problem and you get cops involved, you now have two problems. I will if he keeps persisting but as of now I kinda wanna see if messing with him will be enough to get him to screw off
>>23641695I don’t know any specifics for the US, but it sounds more like something you’d report through an online form to a specialized department, right? Some kind of cybercrime unit. Regular local police officers probably have no idea what to do.
I’ve tried online departments but they don’t really do anything. Chances are, the scammer is prob from a foreign country anyway so
