>>23737618no¿?

>>23737631yepieeee halooo :DDD
i think i have a few hours...
>>23737703nup not yet, i honestly forgot what i had to fo JHKSDJHKD, but i will check teh screenchots
HOW DOES THIS WORK :sob:
>>23737703hey uhm which debian should i download? cuz im afraid the old pc wont run it and wanna make sure
>>23737747OH i know this onei grabbed this screenshot lastnight but forgotgo to https://dietpi.com/#download, then click PC/VM, then download those first twoone of them should work
>>23737764okeoke and here?
you'll want the installer images, not the live images
>>23737773okei thanksss, i alredy have the ventoy thing uhmm, i just put one, no? im honestly dumb
>>23737779i set up a ventoy USB once but i actually forgot how, maybe the other anon would be able to helpif ventoy doesn't end up working, you can stil burn one of those iso's directly thoughdid you get balena etcher?
>>23737782>did you get balena etcher?uh yeah i was going to ask about it, when i searched for it in google sum reddit post came up and said it was like a virus or smt and recomended better ventoy but- i didnt know what to do
>>23737790>sum reddit post came up and said it was like a virus or smt and recomended better ventoythey are two different thingsyou need something like balena etcher or rufus in order to install ventoy, i thinkbut i hope it's not a virus...
you need some tool to burn an iso file to a USB drivedebian, dietpi, other linux distros, and ventoy will all be iso filesthere might be some video tutorial for rufus, or some other tool than balena etcher
>>23737797>you need something like balena etcher or rufus in order to install ventoyi have rufus AND ventoy, thought they did the same. but im a bit confused
>>23737814>i have rufus AND ventoy, thought they did the same. but im a bit confusedohhthey do notrufus, balena etcher, and some other tools are used to burn iso files to USB drivesdietpi, ubuntu, debian, and other linux distros are all iso filesventoy is a special thing you can burn to a USB drive, it lets you add more than one iso file to the USB drive at a timelike you could put debian and dietpi on the USB drive at the same time, and boot from either one, for exampleif you don't use ventoy, you can only have one linux distro burned to the USB drive at a timeyou may not want to mess with ventoy right now, if you just want to get the computer set up
>>23737824oh ok... then i should use rufus or uhm balena? the only reason im asking is because im scared balena is actually a virus ;w;
>>23737833welll either one SHOULD work, but now i'm spooked tooi think i used balena etcher in the past & it worked? but idk if it's also a virus, kinda spookyi've found some rufus tutorials and it doesn't look too complicated, if you want to try that againi can try to answer any questionshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QcpNozmLUci can kinda tell what this guy is doing & it looks like a good tutorial/explanation, but idk if it's spanish or portuguese loli did some reading & i don't think balena etcher is a virus, people are just being retardedbalena etcher will be much simpler to use, but if you want to be completely safe it's up to you
why does anon need ventoy in the first place? He is just gonna install a os on his pc. the time and confusion are not worth being save a little bit of time reflashing the usb-stick. OP, just flash dietpi directly onto the stuck with balena and be done with it.
>>23737920somebody suggested ventoy in the previous thread, they argued it was good for beginners since they can hop between distros quickerbut i kinda agree it's a waste of time, unless OP is interested in it
>OP, just flash dietpi directly onto the stuck with balena and be done with it.this is what i suggest too, udo
interestingalso you probably want the (UEFI) version as that is what most PCs use. the (BIOS/CSM) should also work but its being phased out rn. Do not flash a VM image for use on bare metal.>>23737934OP shouldn't be interested. Its a red herring. If he has trouble picking the right image then what is he supposed to do with ventoy which carries hundreds and has install scripts and stuff. He just wants to host minecraft dammit :((((((
>>23737946>also you probably want the (UEFI) version as that is what most PCs use. the (BIOS/CSM) should also work but its being phased out rn. Do not flash a VM image for use on bare metal.it's an old PC, it might use either onei told her to just try both versions
>>23737946>If he has trouble picking the right image then what is he supposed to do with ventoy which carries hundreds and has install scripts and stuff. He just wants to host minecraft dammit :((((((you may be righti didn't think ventoy was that complicated, thoughthe problem so far is OP hasn't burned a USB with anything yet
>>23737950yeah thats probably the right call given it has ddr3 memory. Still i don't recall a PC that old that didn't have UEFI.
>>23737959>Still i don't recall a PC that old that didn't have UEFI.hmmm
>>23737964UEFI was already mainstream in 2013 right? Thats what op said the computer was from?
>>23737988>Thats what op said the computer was from?that is>UEFI was already mainstream in 2013 right?i'm not entirely sure either, i have a bunch of laptops from 2008 to 2013 but i always just set them up & forget that detail lol
gotta sleep soon...sorry if my replies are too long/confusingi just want you to have an idea what's going on & have some choice instead of telling you waht to dobut that might be dumb since you just want to have the server runningit gets way easier once linux is installed
>>23737868 k i will check it <3>>23737934>unless OP is interested in itnunu i dont think so>>23737946>He just wants to host minecraft dammit :((((((yes ;w;>>23737958>OP hasn't burned a USB with anything yetim about to do it srry>>23738018shoe
>>23738067ohh good night anon
>>23738074gngn <3balena etcher should work fine
>>23738067gn gngotta go very soon too but its not for sleep sadly.>>23738070oh and while dietpi is technically debian, most of the official documentation dont apply to it. follow the dietpi docs. it manages a lot of stuff on its own so its easier for you but. maybe just watch a youtube tutorial once its running.
>>23738095gngn <3>gotta go very soon too but its not for sleep sadly.best of luck
>>23737868>i can try to answer any questionsi dont understand much what he does at the 2:57;w;
>>23737946anonanon what is that? :0 like im alredy putting teh dietpi on the usb but wha is that
uhhh what do i do here....
still awake..>>23738217that's good you're in the bios :Dfrom there you can go into Boot Device Priority, and just make sure the USB drive is at the highest priority, so that it boots from thatyou can also maybe select the USB drive from the Exit tab, and boot into it that wayif you end up with the same grub rescue problem as before, it means you haven't booted into the USB drive properly, and the computer is still trying to use the old thing that was installed>>23738123>i dont understand much what he does at the 2:57;w;not really sure, but if you have the USB drive burned it should be fine, and just try balena etcher if it's too difficultmust sleep for real now sorry
>>23738177it looks like those things in his screenshot are software for running minecraft serversthose can only be installed/used once linux is working though, they run within an OS
>>23738217Watch a older guide on installing a OS so you know hot to navigate the bios. The older ones like that are weird.
