Americans invented the modern pizza that is loved and imitated worldwide and not just a poverty flatbread
>>
Damn mods were fast on this one.
Also why not /ck/?
Anyway best pizza of my life was Pizza Diavola in Napoli, when I googled the best pizza in Napoli and just went there. There was a line of other tourists but it was worth the wait, I ate in a cellar.
The rest of my top five pizzas are Chicago Deep Dish.
NY-style pan pizza is mid, and the way they make it in NY just isn't that great honestly.

You just conditioned yourself to think it was the best because you expected it to be. You probably had better pizza in America but you weren't expecting it to be the greatest authentic italiano pizza worth traveling across the world for.

Nah, I went all over Italy trying various pizza places, from fancy restaurants to the cheap fast food places where you pay per gram.

The preparation and ingredients and overall balance of the pizza was just perfect at that place in Napoli.

Now, if I consider service and price, Chicago edges ahead, because it's faster and cheaper there. But on taste alone Napoli won.

Is it worth flying to Napoli just to eat at that pizza place? Fuck no.
Is it worth flying to Chicago to eat real deep dish? Not really.

That said, both places have other draws that definitely make them worth visiting: Both places have great museums, and Pompeii is a short train ride from Napoli. Chicago has the Great Lakes and the architecture.
