Any Schizo anons been on Aripiprazole before?
What's it like?

Currently I lack motivation and have anhedonia for things like solo video game playing or going to the gym or getting out of my apartment. Additionally it affects my concentration levels, my prolactin levels (it's started to affect my testosterone levels) and just general happiness. Also my current medication causes Parkinson's disease.

Aripiprazole honestly sounds like it'll fix a lot of the problems I have on my current meds but I'm wondering what negatives there might be when on Aripiprazole.

I took it for awhile did nothing for me except give me terrible leg pain that never went away don't risk it

So you still had schizo symptoms and now additional leg pain that doesn't go away?

Fuck I was hoping this would be my miracle antipsychotic...

Unless you are literally schizophrenic with debilitating episodes of psychosis I would recommend not taking antipsychotics whatsoever.

The long term side effects will ultimately end up being more debilitating and impact your mental health and self confidence, among other things.

You don't want to develop tardive dyskinesia. This is almost universal with antipsychotic drugs, atypical, newer ones, doesn't really matter.

>tardive dyskinesia
I don't have a choice. The NHS diagnosed me as paranoid schizophrenic and everyone around me only feels comfortable with me being on meds. I've tried coming off meds 4 times and each time led to me being sectioned again after 6 to 8 months of coming off depot.

I don't hallucinate or hear voices but eventually my imagination takes hold and I start acting on things I am imagining. Last time I was sectioned it felt like I was on drugs of some sort so unless the NHS are micro dosing people who come off their meds successfully to avoid lawsuits or just to keep people in the system then there's a very high chance that I will have to take antipsychotics my entire life to avoid that drug like state.

thank you! More information really helps!

yeah its aripirazole she takes. shes almost entirely symptom free and dosent struggle with motivation.
obviously this is something ur best off discussing with a pharmacist or something also but if they agree its worth trying then id say go for it :)
like all meds different people respond differently so its best to talk to someone who knows pharma really well to weigh the potential risks. if you have a distrust of psychiatrists maybe just go into a random pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist there, they are usually happy to answer questions and generally know more about pharma than doctors.

It didnt really do anything for me, but i was on a low dose.

>at least 5 people on a board of like 20 people have direct experience with antipsychotic meds
literal schizo board

>10mg Clopixol, 5mg Aripiprazole, 1mg Benztropine, 150mg Venlafaxine XR.

That's my morning dose.
Aripiprazole alone feels like nothing, but it pairs well with Clopixol.

I've been on a few injections as well, but they're more for doctor confidence because they expect people to skip their pills.
