What do you think about Ladybird web browsers? Do you think it's possible for them to break the Blink/Gecko/Webkit trio of modern Internet?
>>24119884Maybe, if it won't get hijacked by the troons and other bluesky schizos like a lot of open source projects tend to end up.
>>24120518its lead dev is kinda nuts Tbhat one point he tried to integrate >Swift and now vibecoded some Rust components project certainly has potential but it might be not realized because of Kling's autism
>>24119884>Do you think it's possible for them to break the Blink/Gecko/Webkit trio of modern Internet?i think modern web standards are too entrenched/fucked/bloated at this pointbut i don't know much about ladybird
>>24120549>i think modern web standards are too entrenched/fucked/bloated at this pointthey pass a ton of automatic tests and often test their stuff on popular """web apps" like Google DocsThey certainly wouldn't be able to support nonsense like WebVR but useful standards are clearly their code
>>24119884No. Servo has more potential.
I support it in principle but Google is effectively the "little red hen" in web standards development and Gecko/Webkit/Others just make a reverse engineered implementation of what they innovate. Virtually all other browser devs (Edge/Brave/Opera/Vivaldi/China browsers) realised this and just slap a custom UI over Google's hard work. The Vivaldi team already said that they would be sticking to Chromium even if other browser engines became available because that's what their devs are used to.
>>24122124>literally just a research project>>24123321the fact that something is de-facto standard doesn't mean that standards should be abandoned or that new implementations are completely useless
