There is also some counterparty risk with the mining companies since there can be sudden closures (see Cobre Panama) but otherwise royalties just outperform gold since the miners build new mines, ramp up existing ones and add reserves to keep them open. I've never had a mortgage, I bought my previous house cash, I buy everything cash. That's my blog. You're the closest to friends I have other than my family. As a miner my hopeful scenario is that silver goes down to 50-ish very soon, at which point I will go all in. Shortly thereafter a ceasefire is announced which dumps oil to maybe $80 and massively pumps gold/silver. And you don't have to go far back in history to see what insanity Chinese leaders are capable of getting up to. If China ruled the world like white people did a few hundred years ago they would have put every single non-Chinese person in chains forever. And even normal Chinese would be enslaved by their leaders like they were until recently when we kinda forced capitalism on them. And even today the government can and will sometimes just make citizens dissappear if they are too big of a problem.
