There could have been two life-bearing planets but they had to fight over who would get the moon.

There's a very good possibility that without that impact, life wouldn't exist here.

Two life bearing planets orbiting. It's a interesting geometry problem to get light and dark for 12 hours on each side on two orbiting planets with a moon visible to each dark side at any time.

Moon in between, planets spiraling...r? :)

The moon was created due to the merger of Theia and the Earth.

You couldn't have two planets with a moon in the middle. It would create the classical "Three Body Problem". Basically three large-massed things close together could never achieve stable orbits. One would quickly either be shot out or absorbed by one of the others.

No... I'm almost certain it's possible to achieve a spherical orbit around the sun with 3 revolving objects.

Ah I see what you mean. I thought you meant two planets close together, like within a million km of eachother.
