I'm fucking tired of mining every single day so I will mine words even more until the vocab wall is completely crushed. 80 words on weekdays and 150 on weekends. Reaching 10k words in less than 2 months, let's fucking go.

bruh 25 words a day is pushing it even for neets
>>

>bruh 25 words a day is pushing it even for neets
I think japanese is the only language where you can do this. But basically if you already know the kanji and the readings you can learn 50 words in less than 2 hours.
>>
>>24193982
how the fuck do you define 'learn'?
do you even realize the reviews you'll be doing?
I was sitting at 500 reviews each morning, doing them all the way into evening when I was doing 20

do you just fail a word but press 4?
>>
>>24193984
>do you even realize the reviews you'll be doing?
This meme isn't true. If you smash the words into your head BEFORE using Anki you won't need to do many revisions. The trick is using Anki only as a tool to remind you which words you need to smash into your head in a couple of days. Reverse translation like pic related is a far better strategy than playing around with flashcards. I learned 1900 kanji and over 5000 words in less than 4 months and I can parse eroge and japanese twitter now.
>>
>>24193989
1900 kanji in 4 months is believable, but 5000 words? I call larp. Good for you if you did tho
>>
>>24193991
>I call larp
I can read most of these words from early february, i'm missing like 2 or 3 which aren't even important anyways. My retention is high because I use tricks like reverse translation to review my cards.
>>
>>24194065
*late february
well it was a month ago so it should be enough proof
>>
idk about Japanese, I took a semester in Mandarin 7 years ago and it was such a pain in the ass at 20 words/hanzi a day, I don't believe any of your mnemonics schmenomic tricks reverse whatever.
>>
>>24194071
idk how chinese works but if you know the readings in japanese your mind will nearly always associate it with the meaning immediately. For example 盗用 is used for the semantic field concerning burglary so you know it's something about stealing. In this case it's plagiarism and 盗作 is a similar word.
>I don't believe any of your mnemonics schmenomic tricks reverse whatever.
It works because it helps you recall words instead of just recognizing them. Retention isn't always perfect but I'd say it's about 90% efficient.
>>
>>24194076
make a post on reddit about your method, but I remain sceptical.
>>
unironically learning katakana/hiragana words is harder because kanji behave like semantic and phonetic hooks

I will do it when I'll reach reading fluency in a couple of months. If I amp it up to 80 words a day I should be able to reach that level even faster. Right now I can read about half of what they say. But redditors will probably not believe me.

i learned 150 words yesterday and already used to learn 100 words on weekends. If you don't know how memory works it's on you.

There is no shortcut to replace the thousands and thousands of hours of experience the average native has
Excessive amounts of Anki will just make you burn out or at best leave you with mediocre results
This process takes years so deal with it

Your definition of learning is lax
>>
>>24194212
>Excessive amounts of Anki will just make you burn out or at best leave you with mediocre results
I said I don't use mainly Anki but only as a reminder of which words to revise through reverse translation. I can already read tons of lines from eroge, 4chan posts and twitter so it works.
>>
>>24194215
>Your definition of learning is lax
If words leak out you just have to tackle them again until they stick into your long term memory. That's what Anki is for, but using it just like redditors do will take you years to learn the language.
>>
>>24194216
you would probably be able to do that without any anki as well
t. 君の大大先輩
>>
>Muh burnout
I only stopped like 2 days in 4 months and I never burned out. I learn words during the day and mine them before going to bed. Burning out is a meme.
>>
>>24194229
you are still early in the process if you can even find 150 words to mine in a day so dont speak to soon
>>
>>24194239
>if you can even find 150 words to mine in a day
It takes me like 3 or 4 hours to mine my eroge. Depending on the context, if it's about daily life I can understand nearly everything. If it's about sex or school system then I need to mine more. I hit 5700 words currently.
>>
>>24194247
i assure you you cannot understand everything at your stage even if it feels like it
and yes 150 words in 4 hours is still beginner level unless you are reading very hard texts by native standards
>>
>>24194229
4 months is not that long
>>
>>24194250
>i assure you you cannot understand everything at your stage even if it feels like it
When I'll get to 10k words in a month or two I'll be able to understand everything. Right now I understand half of it.
>>
>>24194253
lol no
10k words is still nothing and thats not even to mention finer nuances which you cant learn without thousands of hours of input
whats the rush, enjoy the process
>>
>>24194261
>10k words is still nothing
10k words is literally N1 level

i passed it 4 years ago with 162/180 which is a high score compared to the pass mark and i still miss a fair amount depending on the content

Shut the fuck up stupid nigger monkeys. You said I would burn out and I didn't burn out, you said I wouldn't be able to read visual novels and here I am. Next time I'm going to shit in your mouth and prove you wrong and when I will you will buy a rope and kill yourself.
>>
>>24194275
keep repping them cards lil bro itll pay off im sure
>>
>>24194275
cope
you are still a beginner so whether you will burn out or not is up in the air
you are objectively overstating your level though

>talk to natives
>they say N1 was difficult even for them
>talk to people who already reached the 10k milestone
>they say they understand most of what is written and only need to mine selectively
But sure japanese is le heccin impossible language you need to know 2 gazzilion words to understand slice of life of life incest eroge
>>
>>24194298
>>talk to natives
>>they say N1 was difficult even for them
lol any non disabled native will pass n1 like its nothing even with half the time on the reading section and the listening section on 1.5 speed
you literally dont know what you are talking about
>>
>>24194301
>you literally dont know what you are talking about
you literally treat japanese as a super secret esoteric language because you're slow as molasses and can't be arsed to study intensively, N1 is a B2 level which is enough to communicate and read comfortably newspapers
>>
>>24194303
nigga i literally passed the n1 very comfortably 4 years ago im years and years ahead of you and im telling you passing n1 at most means you are intermediate
the passing score for n1 is so low you can get tons of answers wrong
>>
>>24194306
>im telling you passing n1 at most means you are intermediate
An average english speaker has a passive vocabulary of around 20k words, the active vocabulary is way lower. You don't need a Japanese encyclopedia to watch Hidamari Sketch or K-On or read slice of life visual novels.
>>
>>24194310
20k is literally double 10k though
sure some media is easier than other kinds but still even media for kids will have a bunch of words not on the n1
>>
>>24194316
>sure some media is easier than other kinds but still even media for kids will have a bunch of words not on the n1
i'm cramming words from eroge and twitter or imageboards not gay ass textbook japanese
>>
>>24194319
nothing on the n1 is gay textbook japanese its all very common
cramming words doesnt mean you learn them truly either, like i said you cant replace the sheer amount of hours a native has
>>
>>24194323
>cramming words doesnt mean you learn them truly either
if you know what they mean in context it means you learned them
>>
>>24194327
sure but seeing something in the wild once or twice and then otherwise only in anki doesnt necessarily mean you will be able to understand it in any context
not to mention whether you will even be able to hear it if spoken
>>
>>24194331
>sure but seeing something in the wild once or twice and then otherwise only in anki doesnt necessarily mean you will be able to understand it in any context
then it's up to exposure, but once you know the words already you won't need to go through the effort of cramming them again
>>
>>24194333
well yeah but the question is whether its fair to call them learned words when you still have plenty of growth to go with them
im sure whatever i say wont convince you because its impossible to know what you dont know but maybe you will remember this in a few years (unless you quit)
>>
>>24194338
>im sure whatever i say wont convince you
i'm studying all day every day and will reach N1 level in a couple of months, even if 10k is not enough i can just double it in 5 more months and 20k will definitely be enough to understand everything. by the time i reach that level words will drastically decrease and mining content will become optional.
>>
>>24194348
i guarantee you will still suck on an objective level even a year from now even if you manage to force yourself to grind that much
just take it easy, slow and steady wins the race
im far beyond 20k, 3 years living in japan, 8 years studying and i still need to look up stuff depending on the topic
>>
>>24194353
>i still need to look up stuff depending on the topic
literally every language is like that, even natives still use dictionaries
>>
>>24194356
it really isnt as easy as you think thats all
youll know what i mean when you reach your current goal and realize you still totally suck compared to any adult native
>>
>>24194372
>youll know what i mean when you reach your current goal and realize you still totally suck compared to any adult native
As an italian native i still need to look up words if i read a long newspaper article or a research article, but that doesn't mean i won't understand the whole article. If I read an English novel I still need to look up words especially if it was written more than 60 years ago. But I will still be able to understand everything, the same goes for Japanese. You never stop learning any language, reaching a level where you're comfortable and understand nearly everything is the sweet spot.
>>
>>24194374
sure but its a whole different level
you are competing with adults who have had a whole upbringing in the culture which means tons of words with tons of nuances they are very familiar with, tons of cultural knowledge like names of celebrities, films, historical events, place names, geography etc, very high listening ability from years of exposure, fast reading spead, good output with very few mistakes, being able to write by hand etc etc
there are definitely things the average native doesnt know but there are also so many things they do
>>
>>24194374
>>24194385
Why don't you 2 talk in Japanese?
Let's see how good korbo can talk to a native

yeaaah so you literally cheat and not even PRETEND to actually know these words. Then, what the fuck are you even using anki for? It's a tool for spaced repetition but you aren't even repeating them at peace you need to. I though I'd never meet an individual cheating in anki but oh god I was so wrong.
つまり、 you are just adding new cards every day and just not learning them at all. Yeah, this will get you to N1 any moment.
If you are at this point already, why don't you just print your N1 by yourself?
>>
>>24194546
>It's a tool for spaced repetition but you aren't even repeating them at peace you need to.
nigger I do spaced repetition BEFORE and AFTER Anki and I only use Anki to remind myself of which words I need to tackle harder.
