What are you planting this year?
I got a mix of tomatoes/peppers, 72 plants started a few months ago.
Right now I am constructing a grape trellis, I got the first 8ft tall post 2ft in the ground, concrete poured, with 2 more to go (they will be 18 feet apart)
I have elderberries to plant but I'm waiting on some corrugated polycarbonate shingle to cut up to built a rhyzome barrier.
I picked up a lemon tree today, and ordered a almond tree, two black currant shrubs, stevens cranberry, and 2 well established concord grape vines (roots big enough that they need 2 gallon buckets)

This time last year I planted 10 fruit trees: 3x pawpaw, 2 apple (i dont remember variety), 1 long john euro plum, 1 baby crawford peach, 1 chinese sweet pit apricot, lapins cherry and a quince from Uzbekistan
I also planted rhubarb, a blackberry bush, and threw some spudding potatoes in the ground but desu idk what state they're in

Not planted by me but well established on the property are an abundance of onions, garlic, blackberries (the single strand thorny vines, gave me ~1/2 gal last year) and an ancient walnut tree, which I harvested only the ones from ground level last year which have me about a gallon of shelled nuts and they taste good. There is also a mulberry tree but lightning struck it and i had to trim where it broke and i didn't get many berries, its probably still recovering
>>
Sounds like quite the gardening undertaking. What foods are you going to make with your various harvests?
>>
>>24339941
well, it will be a while before i get to harvest from the trees i planted, but ideally i'd eat them, and make jellies and wines.
I use the tomatoes and peppers for various dishes but my favorite is curry.I also jar my own tomato sauces. I do like to grind nuts to add to curries so the almond tree makes sense for that or just normal eating. The walnuts i harvested are just eaten adhoc. I made a small batch of wine with the wild blackberries i harvested, but i gave a lot to my chickens. Onions and garlic I just eat as needed. The garlic blooms and the garlic snapes i dont eat eventually turn into clusters of baby garlic that i just scatter around

that's very cool. I hope you have bountiful harvests!

I did last year, and all i did was squat with a trowl, dig holes, put the plants in and put chicken shit on top. There have been a few things that are a menace too my garden, namely bunnies and moles. Last year they'd nipple on all my beefsteak tomatoes, and it was annoying.

I have too many plants for tomato planters to get them off the ground but this year i'm going to try wire lines run horizontally over my garden that hopefully the plants will cling to, preventing critters from getting to them

Oh I didn't even consider pests! Keep growing and maybe take some pictures of the growth progress, I'm sure people would be interested in seeing some gardening pictures, especially the harvesting and food production!

i dont take too many pics, but here is an old pic of a baby chick. One of my hens is brooding right now, so i'll have more chicks by next week

I wanna grow indoor cucumbers to put on my sandwiches (I've heard that they taste better when they're home-grown as opposed to when they're store-bought, and I can grow them to a smaller size so there's no waste). My problem is starting cos I have issues with procrastination

just think about how you'll enjoy it later. I wont benefit from my fruit trees for probably another 6 years, but i know that when i get my first fruit, it will be worth it
>>

True true. The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago and all that jazz
>>
>>24340142
very cute!
>>
it's good you're doing something productive anon

now find people to go and live in your garden
>>

I'm growing a zucchini and carrots
>>
>>24342457
what do you typically make with them? Also, normal carrots or do you plant heirloom varieties?
>>
>>24340142
omg chicken hi!

I live in a luxury high rise apartment that costs more than you make in a year. I have no time for pathetic pursuits such as "planting."
I'm also extremely handsome and have an IQ of 147. "Planting" is far beneath me. Enjoy your "planting," though.

you do you boo, I'm going to enjoy the chickens. Different strokes for different folks.

It doesn't matter what you think you have. When you're 37 you're going to look like you're in your 60s because ur an asshole.

Me? I have an IQ of 160. I am 37 years old, and I look like I am 17 years old. 17 years old and I could kick the shit out of you in a math test or a fist fight
