Why do you all hate landlords on here?

We literally provide housing to people who can't get approved for a mortgage. Without us people wouldn't have shelter.

I inherited a multi-family unit and made a few purchases of my own before the COVID boom. I provide several families and single people with housing. How am I evil for this?
>>
The hate you coz they aint you
>>
>We literally provide housing

You build houses?
>>
>>60869990
Who would buy the houses that got built if nobody could get approved for a mortgage?
>>
>>60869980
Housing is a sacred cow. At the end of the day after all your hard work, you will always feel you deserve a place to rest and recuperate. If you think somebody is hoarding that like bitcoin it creates bitterness. It's weird because you can be heavily invested in energy or food and they wont treat you as bad as if you're holding on to vacant real estate.
>>
Based. Fuck the poors. I got mine.
>t. homeowner retired at 30. make more $$ than grown ass men.
>>
>>60869996
Me, I would build my own fucking shack on vacant land I don't need you cunts hiding behind walls of beurocracy and government gangsters to put up four walls and a fucking roof.
>>
>>60869999
>holding on to vacant real estate
It's not even vacant though, all my unit are rented. my latest purchase was a flip that I decided to keep and rent instead, it just started cash flowing after my investment (new roof, new floors, new HVAC)

>>60870004
>I got mine.
True, it's not my problem if someone can't afford a house. It has nothing to do with me, they should just get a better job and work more hours. That's what I would do if I hadn't inherited the multi-family.
>>
>>60870013
Social media allowing the masses aka poors to speak their minds has really shown me how envious and pathetic they are. I love it. Every day, I browse social media on and off and have like 15 minutes dedicated to /antiwork tha I browse on Steam Overlay during my r6 Siege gaming sesh
>>
>>60869980
People can't grasp the idea that someone can invest and them make money in perpetuity with minimal effort. It's like you are getting money for free
>>
>>60870090
>It's like you are getting money for free
being a landlord is quite difficult sometimes, poors just don't get it. sometimes I have to get up as early as 8 o'clock to deal with a tenant issue or spend almost an hour making phone calls to get something fixed. it's far from easy.
>>
>>60870102
have you considered the idea of investing in REITs or stocks and not having to deal with tenants? do you get better returns for having to deal with them?

There you go. You just answered your own question as to why everyone fucking hates you. The gaslighting about MUH WORK MORE HOURS AND BE A SLAVE!! When most people literally just want to live a normal life. As in, not a slave who lives in his car. Our economy is in shambles and the rich get richer, while the poor get poorer. It's not the average person's fault that they're struggling in this late-capitalist hellscape, and that kind of gaslighting fills people with even more hatred and contempt. Everyone's stressed the fuck out. Sincerely, fuck you.
>>
if it's not a new build by you on empty land, you're not increasing supply. therefore you're hoarding supply which is the very reason why most people can't afford the mortgage in the first place. you're a net negative on the economy and the general population's quality of life. you're a leech who has added zero labor the economy, you're just profiting from other people's misery.
>>
My landlord was absent with a caretaker for 7 years. Rent in the 600-700s. A new landlord bought the building: my old boss' twin brother. that I showed Bitcoin at 50 cents and worked loyally for 5 years. He kept telling me to move from my unit to ones for $1300. I said no I like this one. Eventually I was evicted and went through tenancy dispute, he said he was going to have his son move in there and wasn't going to renovate, then I lost the dispute then got pictures of all my old doors and drawers n shit in the dumpster, while son's stuff was always at home.

Anyways that nigger evicted me during covid when I lost my job from not wearing a mask, and he also evicted my very first gf that was living in another part of the building, forcing me to move in with her months into the relationship out of need to survive, which fucked everything.

Landlords renting are the reason houses are unaffordable, the same reason car rental places make cars unaffordable and why power plants renting you power make electricity unaffordable.

>>60870613
Agreed. Someone who goes into the forest and crafts their own house and utility lines from scrach with their own hands should not be allowed to rent it out, and neither should the person who sold this laborer food in exchange for the house.
>>
>>60869980
because you collectively inflate the price of housing and contribute to a culture that discourages the radical self ownership that made the west great. also, landlords generally are fags who don't know how to manage risk so they use other people's basic needs as a crutch.
>>
>>60870653
your first two examples are nonsequitur. landlords represent increased demand for a good of limited supply, and thus cause higher prices.
>>
>>60869980
>I provide several families and single people with housing.
I bought up all the food, now you can come to me and buy it from me at a markup. Don't forget to tip and say thanks.
>>
>>60869980
idk I don't have anything against a person owning a few rental properties but I really hate people who have dozens of properties, especially if the person in question is a foreigner.

I think, as many other people do, that there should be a limit on the number of houses one can own but also I'm not sure what the impact of this would be. Maybe it's not economically feasible for such a limit to exist.

Because half this board are millennials and which of them doesn’t know some people who got a place in 98 and saw it double in value by 02 and triple by 06 and had enough equity to ride it through and today are sitting on millions from basically 25,000 they managed to get together and then borrowed the rest on their credit cards combined back in 98 while we also know people who bought in 06 and were in negative equity for most of the last 20 years, and once inflation comes into play they’ve basically been financially raped for two decades.

And what’s that big all important difference between the people who can draw down on, depend on and leverage the positive equity from their assets and those who struggled to stay afloat for 20 years, let alone those who never even managed to get on the ladder in the first place?
Fundamentally, nothing.

One isn’t noticeably kinder, nor smarter, and most definitely not harder working. One hasn’t been more loyal to his country, one hasn’t been more of a stalwart in his community, and neither we’re born into wealth.

It just so happened that one sat down at the table to play monopoly with many others at just the right time ( generationally speaking ) and the others didn’t.
That then builds understandable resentment between them.

Add in government and central bank policies, over the years, which favour a couple of generations at the expense of others, and you can easily understand why.

The ratio between average take home pay / savings / deposit needed / house price and mortgage rates varies tremendously between decades.

One decade a single teacher can buy a 4 bed house in a decent part of the city.
The next decade a couple can’t buy a 2 bed flat in a not so nice part of the city. That isn’t a fair playing field where you can judge all those competing equally, so of course those who started on a 10m steep incline 50m back in a race are going to be like what’s up

Just work harder, they say.
>>
>>60869980

The only thing I hate about my landlord (commie-block apartment complex), is that they don't keep things clean enough. If some White-Trash or Mullato Nigger drops food in the hallway or staircase it'll sit there for a week before someone cleans it up. The hallways and staircase should be cleaned daily.

You provide nothing. The workers that did build the house did
>>
>>60871032
>You provide nothing.
Do you? I see this said an awful lot these days by people who are equally indicted by it.
>>
>>60871032
>You provide nothing
I pay for any repairs needed in the house. Do you seriously think broke ass people renting are paying to get the siding touched up? Or getting a new water heater? Or getting all new windows? No they would literally go bankrupt at the mere thought of doing a home repair. I provide them the service of living in a home without any of the responsibilities of owning a home.
>>
>>60869996
Oh so you built new houses and didn't just buy up existing housing in an area you don't live just to rent it back to people that actually live there?
>>
It’s supply and demand nigger. You drive the demand up for housing which makes the prices of homes increase.
>>
>>60871039
You dont provide for it, the workers who repair it provide them. You have just man made papers and use them to make more man made papers by >>60871044
>>
>>60871168
>the workers who repair it provide them
yes. that i pay for, with no additional expense coming from the person renting. are you dumb?
>>
>>60869999
>It's weird because you can be heavily invested in energy or food and they wont treat you as bad as if you're holding on to vacant real estate
its because of .gov intervention, food and energy are free global markets where sales prices actually go to a fair equilibrium
but real estate is by its very nature locally captured
add in zoning laws to prevent supply from rising with rising demand and the added effect of all jobs concentrating in ever smaller geographic pools and you get a disaster unfolding

but the worst part about it all is that most real estates long term value is shit
every advanced economy has declining demographics only propped up via immigration from increasingly shittier places
so over the course of our lifetimes housing valuations will relatively collapse again
>>
Getting approved for a mortgage wouldn't be as difficult if leeches like you weren't buying up houses and charging people as much as they would be paying for a mortgage anyway
>inb4 poorfag detected
I own my house, just choose not to be a leech
>>
>>60869980
You're largely just another entitled dependent on the state. I know a bunch of landlords who cannot find tenants. So they turn to the state to pay their mortgage in exchange for housing some deadbeat with 7 disabled kids.
>>
>>60870610
This. Also:
>society says you must get a job to make money
>society makes it more and more impossible to get a job
>>
Being a landlord sucks and renters can't know this until they are one.
>shit is constantly breaking and it always falls on the home owner to fix it
>awful renters that break shit and take revenge on landlord
>renters that do crazy nonsense in the house like raising chickens in the guest room.
>Noise complaints and any other city ordinances fall on the owner
>minimal piss poor profit margins. Nothing like you see in the movies. If you aren't rich from the start, then renting is like a full time job with less pay.
>>
>>60872197
>Noise complaints and any other city ordinances fall on the owner
Good. Stop renting to ghetto people. Nobody wants those things as neighbors and most of the time landlords don’t do shit to stop ghetto scum from making noise and ruining neighborhoods.
>>
>>60870610
>who lives in his car
THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH YOU GUYS. Who said to live in your car? Why are you moving out of your homes before you can afford a house? IDIOTS!!!!!!! Just stay home and save money until you can afford a house.
>>
>>60872231
Problem is, people like you kick your kids out as soon as they turn 18 so they’re forced to become rentslaves.
>>
>>60869980
I don’t hate landlords per se, but I do hate globohomo wallstreet landlords (blackcock, etc.) that buy up all property with hyperleverage and then proceed to extract as much rent from their wagie slave tenants as possible just so that number go up.
>whats that anon you just need a 1br/1ba apartment in the hood? That’ll be $2500 a month and thats me cuttin you a deal man.
>>
>>60869980
I sold my rentals.

Just wasn't worth my sanity yelling at section 8 niggers and scamming mexican contractors for a living. If anything landlords aren't paid enough. There are way easier ways to make money.
>>
>>60872312
Why is it always mexicans
Why can’t you ever pay white men to do the work
>>
>>60872316
There's literally no white men in trades anymore. I try to hire white but it always ends badly. Some white guy shows up to do the bid and answers the phone. Then all he does is hire 5 spics to do all the actual work while he sits in his lifted pavement princess truck.

I don't fall for that anymore. Sorry chud but Im the only fat white guy standing around not doing shit in my deals.
>>
>>60869980
they (landed class) siphon money from the working class
landlords hate renters be some of us treat their properties poorly. i have always been a good renter, the last two landlords i had who rented me a house loved me. i paid their renta of time year after year.
i cannot afford to rent a house anymore. i have to live in a tiny closet apartment.
>>
>>60872350
Based
>>
I just bought a house with 4 bedrooms on a lake, do you guys think I should rent the other three?

Haha just kidding, no way do I want to deal with some losers in my house, I would rather convert them into like a gym room or something
>>
Stop charging exorbitant prices for basic necessity and need, stop taking hostage of another decent human for your profiteering from housing.
>>
>>60873878
>exorbitant prices
I charge market rent.

>stop taking hostage of another decent human
They are free to rent elsewhere or buy their own house if they don't like renting from me. The idea that I'm holding them hostage is laughable at best.
>>
>>60874408
market rent is higher than the average cost of a mortgage
>>
>>60874408
moreover you contribute to housing scarcity, which in combination with the cost and risk associated with moving to new areas (where there likely aren't cheaper homes, if any are available) literally does hold your tenants hostage. get a different investment strategy you fag
>>
>>60874471
>market rent is higher than the average cost of a mortgage
and? get a mortgage if you don't want to pay rent. the rent isn't just covering the mortgage, it's covering repairs, upgrades, appliances, etc.
