Living here is hell and there are no opportunities

My small town on the west side is sooo fucking gentrified now and wealth gap is so brutal and noticeable these days

A ton of rich boomers, retirees, remote workers, and vacationers, and then the regular working class wages making barely above minimum wage

Like $17 an hour for brutal factory work

How do I escape?
>>
>>60893541
Holland MI btw

Tons of beach houses worth 5M+ easily

Sooo brutal having to be so close to so much wealth and not be anywhere close to it

>Sooo brutal having to be so close to so much wealth and not be anywhere close to it
If you think this is different anywhere else... I got bad news my dude.

I have no ill will towards the area, but I don't want to live here forever. Just don't see myself raising a family here, but good luck to you.
>>60893541
You're on biz. Figure out remote working or go make it on some shitcoin. No excuse if you want to move somewhere else.
>>
>>60893541
michigan is a state for yuppy faggots
ask your parents to pay your rent for an apartment out of state, like every other rich faggot from michigan
>>
Michigan also has tons of homes for 100k.
You can probably afford that on $17 an hour.
But if it was me I would move further south where you don't have to deal with the cold.

Gaylord Michigan
lol

Being surrounded by rich people is awesome. Figure out a way to sell goods or services to them because they have money to spend. I bet tradies around you are rolling in money.

OP lives there

I would live in Kalamazoo based on names alone

Delete this thread, we are full.

PS: I live in the northern lower and haven't seen a nigger in 6 months. Fresh water for days and you can leave your door unlocked.

Nothing beats the Summers.

I lived in Maine. Same thing there. Bunch of rich retirees and people with vacation homes. You’re not thinking of this correctly. Those people with the multimillion dollar homes didn’t earn that money in your town, they earned it elsewhere.

I had to leave Maine to make it. Nothing up there but lobsters, meth and fentanyl.

>leave your door unlocked in michigan
lmao

My area's the exact same way.

Rural state, on the coast. Super gentrified rich tourist town. No industry. Everything's either super wealthy living a vacation, or it's $17-$20/hr factory work.
The gap is insane and it's not just wealth. I literally can't relate to anyone here because it's all spoiled rich preppy types, or it's turbo-townie redneck types.

coastal NH here

It's actually pretty safe outside of the bigger cities despite what the media wants you to believe

Nice to see some New Englanders. Great areas but zero prospects. You either leave or work a dead-end job.
>>
>>60898019
Once every couple of years, I get a deep yearning to return to New England... but then I remember why I left. I feel like it's very hard to make anything of yourself there unless you're born into money. I might retire in Maine if I make it, but as long as I have to wage to survive, I don't think I'll return to the area.
>>
>>60898042
New England is one of those places you work to get out of, and then spend the rest of your life trying to get back there.

Yooper here, if you're White it's pretty heavenly. Beaches in the Summer, crippling snowfall in the Winters. Bought a 2-bed house 4 years ago for $70k, and I overpaid (good house, but the market is just that cheap up here, though it has risen a little).

If you're not white, I can't recommend it at all. People get killed by locals, they have ways of disposing of the bodies in the swamps so that you'll never be found. Also, everyone here is either a conservative or a far-right extremist. Oh, and there's tons of Catholics here. Surprisingly religious part of the country.

Downsides are that everyone is old here (except a few of us Zoomers). There also isn't a ton of work. $20 an hour delivering beer, more if you get a CDL and drive buses. Best jobs are at the paper mills, and that shit isn't worth it.

So for a lot of people it's awful here. But if you're a white Catholic right-wing extremist who works an online job and can handle literally 100s of inches of snowfall? Come introduce yourself at the Latin mass in Escanaba lol.
>>
If Michigan has the worst city in America (aka Detroit), how the fuck do they also have one of the most respected universities in the country (Michigan University)? It is a big incongruence for me
>>
>>60898271
Send Latinos and Niggers there and clean up whites please..
>>
I keep hearing Michiganders say “Detroit is coming back!” and “it’s a lot safer than it used to be”

Lots of cheap houses so maybe time to buy? I live in Lansing so it really can’t be much worse right?
>>
>>60898370
Without TND detroit is not coming back

Born and raised in Kalamazoo, it is actually one of the better areas to be
Lesser known secret is that if you put your kids in the public school system in kzoo for like 90% of the time, you get FREE in state tuoition for a 4 year degree. I know college is shit nowadays but kzoo is unironically an amazing place for new parents.

>three colleges in town
>free in state college tuition for your kids if they go to public school
>public school isnt even bad if you're smart b/c of programs like kamsc / bcamsc, not to mention U of M (public ivy) is IN STATE ergo covered by said free tuition
>40 min drive from one of the most phenomenally beautiful lakes
>4 seasons

fucking loved growing up in kalamazoo/michigan anons holy shit
