> they use ancient COBOL mainframe
> everything else tech related outdated too
> now have to reword resume to be as generic as possible to pivot industries from this disaster

I was at that job for almost 6 years and they barely raised my pay from base $55k, exited with $80k. Manager didn't really like me is why, no matter what I did his perception didn't change but I did my work all on time and went above and beyond, etc.

Now the job market fucking sucks donkey boner on top of that. Many jobs now require at least several rounds of interviews if you (somehow) manage to stand out in a crowded 1k+ applicant pool. No skills, shit job market, 3 year employment gap, bachelors computer science....WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Jobs under 100k don't fact check resumes. You can be whoever you want.

Something like 85% of finacial institutionsnand 70% of fortune 500 companies still use cobal. You're probably more valuable than you realize
>>
I’ve worked for a boomer lawyer who does everything like it’s still the 1990s and doesn’t use any modern law software

How the fuck am I gona get another job when I have 0 experience with that shit now?
>>

>COBOL
You're gonna be a millionaire WFH chad once the recession ends
>>
>>60898412
>COBOL lmao even
>>
>>60898412
I thought COBOL devs were in high demand because all the boomers are aging out and there's still a shit ton of legacy banking software that needs updating because they're too scared to move to something more modern?

All banks still use COBOL. A single search on LinkedIn shows tons of job openings.

>I was at that job for almost 6 years
Then you should have at least accomplished two things: 1. git gud at your job, and 2. got to know people in your field through coworkers or through conferences if your company sent you to any.
>No skills
See above.
>3 year employment gap
You created this problem.
>shit job market
It's only shit if you're also dogshit, provided the right credentials and knowing people willing to refer you internally means you don't have to compete with thousands of job applications just to get an interview.
>>
>experience in legacy COBOL systems
>Wants to rewrite his resume to hide the fact
Its your biggest strength retard

There may not be that many open positions for this but banks and the government use these systems still and always need capable people because zoomers cant into cobol

If there arent open positions, try cold calling/messaging people at banks in dev positions, on linkedin or whatever
>>
>1k applicant pool
Kinda doubt that for cobol positions, again dont try to compete with jeets for low level code monkey positions if you have a skill that elevates you
