Was researching ipos recently. Turns out the recent 'easy money' doesn't actually mean the market is topping out- we have a historically low number of ipos- rather the perception was created by robinhood allowing poorfags with 200 bucks to their name to double their money in a day on the random IPO pumps. In fact during the dotcom bubble many ipos pumped up to 700% in a single day so we're a way's off from a big crash probably idk. BUY GOLD MINERS.
>>

Robinhood has done a lot of weird shit to the market. I probably wouldn't be a trader if I hadn't found RH in ~2015, and commission-free trading definitely wouldn't be the norm.

I joined the company I currently work for in June 2021.
In 2022 they gave me a +50% raise.
In 2023 they gave me a +33% raise.
In 2024 they gave me a +25% raise.
In 2025 they gave me a +20% raise.

I did not ask for any of these but my two supervisors did.
We work in sales and I'm the only autist on the team keeping everything organized behind the scenes.

What happens when the boomers start dying off and it becomes inheritance? My kneejerk assumptions is a bunch of millennials are going to inherit the money and presumably cash it all out to spend it on a house? But I guess most boomers already have a house so just means the inheritors will take that house and invest all the spare cash and the cash they already had in the market? Is boomer dieoff bullish?

Crazy how the best way to make money is investing in something like 3x tqqq at the bottom of a market selloff like in april, then using extra cash to gamble on pennystocks or ipos and we lived in a world where such things were only possible for boomers with 500k+ to invest previously.

It's almost like they didn't want us to make it.

Undoubtedly she will probably call me up when she's 85 demanding I take care of her. Lol. Lmao even.

It doesn't have to be a conspiracy. You needed to already have good money to trade because you used to need to pay a commission. Robinhood figured out that if you sell order flow, you can be profitable without charging a commission. Other brokers were forced to drop their commissions just to compete with RH.

>s&p goes up as factor of deficit spending
Yes, and there is more. The richest 0.001% own the stock and markets, receive billions of dollars in dividiend and interest payments, and control the banks and government, so they keep the deficient spending going to keep their money flowing and growing. Why would they let the stock market crash, or decline for a long period of time when its the source of their wealth/power? If there is a market correction they sell off the top and facilitate the correction then buy again at lower prices to increase their grip and increase their wealth.

No, just dont' eat highly processed chemical infused slop if you care about your health. Sausage is the worst, the oils used to cook the hashbrowns is often almost poison. Some ham and bacon (not processed) is fine, with real eggs (not the processed "egg" stuff) with real butter is the way to go.

>>
>>60905258
The S&P500 and the stock market as a whole have three sources of returns by definition:
1) Dividend yield
2) Earnings growth (per share)
3) Speculative return (the P/E ratio)

Dividends yield has been quite low, but that's partly because of stock buybacks which boost earnings per share instead.
Earnings growth has been stellar, and it's possible it could continue to be stellar if US megacaps keep it up. Debasement of the US dollar could boost this in nominal terms.
The P/E ratio is very high. It could go even higher but historically speaking this predicts very poor performance ahead. It has been like this for a while now and yet it keeps going higher. Some people think this is a new normal, I think a reversion to the mean is eventually inevitable, but no one can predict when and I'm certainly not going to try.

My dad was a retard who kept smoking even when it gave him cancer more than one and the third time killed him, so mom got free rein to ruin my life. It's actually kinda funny because all the things she did to fuck me over like not letting me get a license/used car in highschool, she did the opposite for druggo. I realized it's because I was always responsible and tried not to give her a hard time, so in her brain she feels entitled to fucking me over because she 'knows I won't make a fuss' and gets extra pissed when I tell her off. But she always wanted druggo to be happy so she spoiled him and now she's confused why he turned into druggo.

The funny thing is I felt bad for him until last week and was trying to help him but then he said that I should buy him shit because I have a job so he's pretty much a lost cause/extremely unironically entitled.

Nothing I can do.

buying calls is bullish
buying puts is bearish

when you buy an option, you’re essentially betting that the stock will pass a certain strike price by a certain date.

(an option is actually the “right to buy/sell” 100 shares at a specific price that expires at a specific date)

TLDR - don’t use them, just stick to leveraged ETFs

a decent au pair in new york city is $70,000 a year. seventy thousand for a girl to sit there and do nothing, staring at her phone while the baby crawls around crying. It's one of the most overpaid jobs in the country by far and no one ever talks about it. A huge part of the supposed "fertility crisis" among upper class, highly paid people, not poor people, is the total absence of decent cheap infant care.
Cheap female labor in other fields is drawn from the sheboon or aunt jemima or juanita classes, but these types are basically ineligible for nanny work because of how dangerous they would be to leave your baby with.

>If there is a market correction they sell off the top and facilitate the correction then buy again at lower prices to increase their grip and increase their wealth.
No, they don't even do that. They would have to pay taxes if they did.
Early 2025 has shown that his is the case because they pulled all the levers all at once to V this shit back up to new all-time-highs in practically NO TIME at all.
The fully-invested elite class can no longer sell, they have to stay fully invested.
Long term capital gains is 25% for the Shartymarty's if I am not mistaken.
NOBODY with wealth will risk selling their holdings whilst having no guarantee that the markets would retrace as much as needed for them to buy into again and ending up with more shares than they sold.

>what is /smg/ reaction to the accelerating death of the dollar as reserve currency
I'm glad I'm not JUST /smg/?
While markets are still the GOAT for long term compounded returns.
Leveraging up and borrowing with market assets is more risky and has more chance of blowups.

>Got a $500K biz loan at 3.75% and loaded up on inventory during the pandemic wind down. Fortunately the inventory that I carry is also made of PMs.
>Also bought some RE in 2024. $500K loan locked in 5.25% APR.
All in all the 2 loans combined will mean I owe about 2 million in interest and principal over the next 30 years. However, the home has already spiked like $300-400K. Meanwhile gold/silver have basically doubled since 2020/2021. That's before factoring in that some of the stuff was imported before and if I were to buy it now it would be even higher due to tariffs
At this point, inflation doesn't really hurt as much as it would for someone without loads of debt?
Also ICE deportations, import tariffs, and dollar devaluation will only make US homes more expensive as it kneecaps new supply and rises building costs.

It's mainly me not liking the folks in office acting like clowns, but Trump really helping out those with assets and those with real estate. Sure future costs of importing and dollar use overseas might be hurt, but that's a later problem and could be solved by moving further down the world development ladder (vacay to Vietnam/Thailand instead of say Taiwan/Japan).

wrong. They take income taxes from you, and you can expect them to rape you extra hard. Chaos means difficulty buying gas, getting food, crime, but you have to understand they will never stop tax raping people, just ask citiznes in countries where hyperinflation has happened. Everything switches to the black market and you need security to go outside. I on the other have a brighter outlook of the future - full scale nuclear war is what I am hoping for.

>wtf? I thought that was some kind of foreign exchange student labor system
>how tf does that shit work?
It's off the books.
The legal kind, the foreign exchange student au pairs only cost $40k/year, but they only work 40 hours a week! And you have to pay for their school! It's such a waste, these "students" are just remittance farmers, they'll never do anything with the 2 years of education they get here.

We need them to be 24/7, round the clock slaves for just 2 years, so high IQ women can put out a couple babies in their mid 20s without it wrecking their career, having to get up at 3am to change the diaper and stop the baby from screaming.

But such service is effectively only available to the ultra rich, 500k/year at least.

Fertility is very high in the >1MM/year income bracket, and in Dubai, and in Hong Kong, and in upper-caste India, because all these people have slaves.

Fertility is also high among the Amish and Ashkenazi orthodox Jews, but these societies are actual trad patriarchies, not the LARPing kind where you make tiktoks of your wife baking a swastika sheet cake but she can and will divorcerape you at any time.

If a woman cheats on her husband in the Amish community, she is shunned or exiled. THAT is what defines a trad lifestyle, not fucking cottage core lace dresses and satin curtains.

Ditto. 2x is probably the way to go imo.

Although it's also good to 1x dca when you feel markets are hot, cash up when you feel things are about to crash, and 3x after the market tanks. It's easier said than done.

But if you're doing it right then just the rebalancing out of leverage during good times will be aspect will already mess with your cap gains. Once you hit upper 6 figs then even the passive income from VOO/SSO will be fucking with your income taxes.

my experience has been that you can’t call the peaks, but you can recognize a good deal
also, rebalancing too much means you’re going to get short-term gains tax
so, I just stay parked in SSO and my plan is to just pump it to 3X and throw more of my savings in when it hits 20% down every few years

>>60907038
that was a joke i didnt invest in hydrograph but i cant deny that the name was part of the reason i got into (electron beam) hydrogels

around half their revenues come from their Silly George brand tho lol.. they acquired it for like $1 million and now it's $5 million revenues this year (consumer products like this are basically 70% gross margins against the cost of goods, but in reality once you factor in marketing for AGGRESSIVE growth, you'd prob only have ~15%, Silly George themselves got acquired for cheap coz they ended up in a cash crunch with no choice because they spent too much on growth)

really cool to find these obscure companies just by sifting through a stock screener for hours lmao
the big bleed down from $5 was because AbbVie is taking awhile to get onboarded, not because of hydrogels themselve but because of AbbVie's side from another vendor
once AbbVie's new medical device is ready, the product that electron beam hydrogels is basically the razor blade to the razor, it'll be consistent revenue that could be considered defensive through a recession
beauty brand could potentially be defensive too through a recession, it's still a consumer brand but in a different context, interpret it how u wish, history repeats itself

their biggest flagship product right now is Silverseal wound dressing, that's to Cintas as their customer

that said, they do more beyond electron beam hydrogels, it's been a pretty boring medical company for a couple decades until they got spun-off into a public company and management replaced with turnaround CEO already doing M&A's <$20 million market cap and well it was worth it
they did like 3 raises while they're still negative cashflow, not ideal but at least they weren't actually done to keep the lights on -> acquire silly george + kenkoderm brands -> 3rd one was to sustain growth because silly george was growing too fast, Otherwise they're supposed to reach positive cashflow by their fiscal Q4 , so 2 quarters, but that's a low bar to reach, given the equipment/etc is prob $10 million for them, depreciation will keep them "negative" until they hit at least 30-40% capacity

Stada gave them $1 million non-dilutive funding to help onboard their products -> non-dilutive as in like no interest just recoup the cost 5% off their future sales until it's paid off
honestly yes the numbers look ok, like less than 2x price-to-sales ratio but it's really the fact that multiple multi-billion giants are doing business with them because they're currently the only choice for electron beam hydrogels in North America. The other one is too big to care about this small growing market and they are actually a customer as well of electron beam hydrogels because they dont want to take their own hydrogel line offline (for their established product) and need to contract out smaller batches to electron beam hydrogels

i mean if you look at pic related, it seems like a good risk-reward play, the dilution is expected at this stage but also reasonable, cashburn is decreasing over time so it's a big focus on them, no debt (coz theyre diluting instead lol)

really the risky is they overbuilt their capacity too early i guess? a few years ago they were only at 4% capacity, now they're like ~18% capacity
big reason was that is AbbVie being in talks to get onboarded in 2022 but seeing delays on that on AbbVie's side coz their machiine (which AbbVie acquired for like $550 million) is not completely ready yet

Morning

I have long since given up on trying to time the market, I paid the price and learned my lesson.

I am in my 30's so I am unlikely to retire for another 30 years. I just stick to my budget and continue saving and investing.
I am in the accumulating phase so I'm hopefully not selling for the next 2-3 decades. In the long run the market's return equals the two fundamentals (dividend yield and earnings growth) as speculation fluctuates up and down, so I'm not worried about short term price trends.

Inevitably over the next decades there are going to be cheap periods and expensive periods but the trend will always be up and to the right.

Almost all of it goes into index funds and a bit of bitcoin.

>Oils used to cook is almost poison.
Ya fuckin turkey. It’s literally poison in the right dosage. It’s fucking oil.

For the record, the science on oils and links to toxic effects is from pushing it beyond its intended usage.

The hydrocarbons and similar gunk produced when it’s burnt are bad.

But any food cooked in burnt oil, you wouldn’t eat. Because it clearly smells toxic.

The food is unappealing far before it becomes toxic.

But cherry pick whatever new-age bloggers you like. You’re as bad as vegans.

So why should i leave s&p 500 and go to a world etf
>>
>>60909070
The thing is, in aerospace engineering, all of the hard stuff has been done already. It's a mature field. All work now is just incremental improvements to already existing technology, like engine designs, wing shape, avionics systems, etc... just to save money. Either for the manufacturer or the operator (fuel efficiency). There's nothing else they can do that would suddenly be worth mega-billions of dollars, so there's no point in investing much money in it, so there's no competition for labor.
I'm not saying this is a good thing, but that's just how it is.

Because you never know where gains might come from.
TSMC is in the top 10 holdings of VWCE.

It's been 15 years of US overperformance, before that it was 10 years of US underperformance, following 20 years of US overperformance and 10 years of US underperformance and so on.

Even with the US overperforming, VWCE is up like +85% in 5 years compared to VUAA (S&P500) being up +105% in the same period. It's doing alright.
