Now imagine you're an ayy who wants control of Earth in order to sell it's various life forms on the interstellar black market (as well as prevent competitors from doing so). You can't just take it over by force b/c space logistics can be a real pain in the cloaca, so instead what you do is figure out which humans are in control, and you get them to answer to you somehow.
