Personally, I’m building a mothafuckin earth ship.
That's a pretty house, to me mold and humidity makes this kind of thing unlivable anywhere but in a desert tho.
Wtf is this evenIt has a roof and the hillside on one side? Thats just a normal house! >>60933562Proper insulation and drainage solves this, you think people only have basements in the desert?
For me it's a stilted tiny home with an underporch
>>60933562I actually hung out in one for about 10 years. It had a grip of problems, but humidity wasn’t anywhere near the top of the list. >1. The flat roof wasn’t structurally sound enough to kick it on (as intended) and now it’s leaking. So I need to consult an engineer. Maybe I can use a shipping container, for that portion.>2. The primitive (early 00’s) Solar system was garbage. Couldn’t even power the fridge. Solar is much more efficient these days.>3. No water heater. They had to build a fire under the tub and add ice, to take a bathNow there are wood burning water heaters.>4. The owner was a master architect and I am not. It still took him decades to make it comfortable on a pot dealer budgetI have the budget for land and materials, but not the labor. I definitely know great contractors that have the experience and would cut me a sweetheart deal. But I still need at least 2x what I have now, to take the prospect seriously. >>60933588Earth ships are fully off grid and intended to be ecologically sound. The materials should be repurposed. The grey line fertilizes the soil. Etc.

>>60933799Lifting it off the ground prevents the earth from stealing all its warmth. Though you have less mass to act as a thermal battery like in earth ships. Much less maintenance tho. Very movable. If you are rich what you do is just build like 5-6 of these on a big plot of land and connect them by bridges.
If I ever get to $4m or $5m I’m building this in the woods and getting away from the collective of energy vampires known as contemporary society.
>>60933866Anon I could make this on acres of land for like $30,000ish I think. You just wouldn't be able to find work in the area easily.
>>60933875The land cost isn’t so bad, but the construction would cost maybe $350k.I work remotely, but this is something I would retire in unless I could take out a large loan instead of a mortgage.
