If you were born in the US in the 21st century or some other western country you are literally doing better than pretty much 99% of people born all throughout human history. You have the liberty and luxury to sit on your fat ass as often as you want, jack off and watch netflix for 15 hours straight. If you reply to this thread you fail to recognize how useful the tool you have at your disposal truly is. Access to internet and a device which fifty years ago wasn't anywhere near as versatile and easily accessible as it is now.

And you have the audacity to come on here and complain like you have it hard. No one tells the stories of the people who died alone and deprived throughout the 20th, 19th centuries and prior. Everyone who struggled in the past didn't have the tools we have. A wealth of knowledge and opportunity. Yet a majority of people would rather use it to complain to others about how difficult things are, and bring others down as well lest they decide to do something with themselves. How many instances are there of people all over the internet coming on here to complain and grief, only to bask in the digital, media centric luxuries they have until they inevitably get bored again?

Don't tell me you don't have control over your life. Don't tell me you don't have a choice. You do, but you choose to distract. You choose to blame someone else, other than yourself. Go ahead and reply to this, and prove me right. Or prove me wrong, go and do something besides bitch or grief. Find a sense of gratitude. Recognize what you have, and what you're capable of.

I'm not gonna read your blog but I agree with your first sentence. My ancestors were literally living in huts in Southeast Nigeria only 3+ generations ago. Now my siblings and I are college-educated Americans with respectable careers. And I'm the first millionaire in my bloodline. Life is good.
>>
>>60935561
You are correct in the sense of there being more opportunities and avenues of approach to living a successful life. These opportunities are also not without consequence or competition. Back in our parents generation, good paying jobs with a college degree actually did provide you with a guaranteed career. The majority of women used to enterain the idea of monogomy and the myth of unconditional love. The normal person wasnt expected to give up fast food or weekends out just to afford rent. Back then active investing was done by professionals.

The maze used to be just a straight line, now its a labrynth, a labrynth that most people will fail to find the end of. Just because you can control which way you wanna go won't guarantee that you will reach the destination you hoped for.
>>60935601
Define the respectable career and how much debt it couldve required to achieve that

I would rather be a feudal lord or a patrician than some fucking pleb today.
How is being a pleb today being any different to being a pleb in roman times?

No

Please at least try with these posts. I have all of the first three and people used to work in the past too, the treadmill isn't something that was just invented. And there is still quality content made (you have to look for it), plus you have the entire backlog of human history for content you can consume. 4chan is also content that our ancestors could only dream of. Stop making excuses for your addiction.

>>
>>60935893
>And there is still quality content made (you have to look for it)

The excessive amount of content available unfortunately makes it all too easy to just denote absolutely everything as shit. More content than we can ever consume in 100 lifetimes, more than anyone in prior generations have had, and people will still say things were better back then. Maybe it was, in the sense that you really just had to make do with what you had. The endless bounty of info has only served to make some people entitled and ungrateful. Truly its up to the individual to monitor what they choose to consume. You really have to be on top of it.

It's literally the equivalent of roman bread and circuses except we don't even get free bread.

Government talking about UBI? Give everyone 50-100 bucks a week for a basic food budget for a single person (yes I'm aware that fast food costs like 20 bucks for a large drink and fries and burger, don't buy large and don't buy fast food) and there's a good ubi substitute. Most of my spending is literally on food.

Yes, being born in the USA is fucking awesome and I'm fully aware my life is better than 99% of people on the planet and even 99% of Americans 80 years ago.

I'm not one to bitch about life, I enjoy my life.

Meh. Back then, you had a very straightforward life. Work in the mines or on the farm. Get a wife. Have a house and a housewife. Have kids. It was basic asf. I kinda feel nostalgic for that idea.
>>
>>60937643

You know damn well working in a mine, or on a farm and getting sick fucking sucked. Plus no internet to shitpost, no electricity, no air-conditioning, no washer/dryer, no refrigerator, no car. Had to hunt for your food a lot of the time. Probably watched one of your kids die from disease or war.

Stop the cap.

I've been watching a lot of those 100 year old restoration videos and people in them are often just loitering around doing random shit. No one is in a hurry and you get a real sense of community between everyone. Nothing like today.
Sure, life was hard back then and it was very likely that you would be doing physical labor but life had purpose and wasnt soul crushing and meaningless like it is now.

Yes, a SMALL home.

Every time someone bitches about grandpappy buying a house in 1955 for $18k, they forget that was about 5x - 6x his annual salary and the average size of a house was 950 sqft with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Plus, it had no air-conditioning, primitive washers and dryers, MAYBE a single TV with a few channels, etc.

The average annual salary in America today is $62k/yr, the average home price is $500k. That means home prices are about 8x the annual salary. But, here's the rub none of these retards talk about. The average size of a home is 2,350 sqft, with 3 - 4 bedrooms and 2 - 3 bathrooms. Today's homes are 2.5x bigger than in 1955, with all of the new amenities not available in 1955. Central HVAC, better plumbing, a TV in every room, cable & internet, better washers, dryers and dishwashers, etc.

Things have actually gotten better, but if you want those better amenities, you need to work a little longer, or harder. Just like if someone in 1955 wanted a 1,300 sqft house instead of a 950 sqft house, they've would've needed to work longer, or harder.

Then again, almost every American has become a whiney faggot that takes life for granted and believes they're entitled to everything for free, while not having to work or provide anything for the rest of society.

Doesn't apply. It being part of the social fabric and an integrated social experience was part of it. Consuming good content alone is shallow, it's about the environment and focus of attention created around it.

>Please at least try with these posts.
In 1990 you could get a lower Manhattan apartment for $1,000 a month with a roommate. The same apartment I grew up in is now $8,000/mo. And I literally know people making the same salary they did 30 years ago. In fact, practically every house I've lived in growing up has gone from $150k to $5M+. The quality of life for practically everyone I know has only gone down. And this isn't a communist rant, because anyone with a fucking brain can just invest and ride the 1% and never have to work, but most people aren't that smart or are too risk adverse.

In the 1990s if you knew how to use literally MS fucking paint you could get a job making assets for videogames. Now if you aren't one of the top 3D sculptors or concept artists it is hopeless getting into a studio.

You could become a famous YouTuber in the 2000s or streamer in the 2010s just by being the first to upload or go live. You could become a famous drawfag just by posting ms paint shitposts on 4chan. It is literally next to impossible to establish anything nowadays. When communities were secular, you only had to be the best in the community. Post-internet, you have to be the best in the world. It's clear as day, and that's why the only way to survive is to invest in megaliths. Margins are so thin there is literally no point starting a business nowadays, unless you can afford to operate at a loss for a decade to corner market share.

A million dollars in the USA is nothing and you’re spending all your free time in a place where people constantly shit on you for your skin color, how good can your life really be?

The truth is we are all slaves to a system that is meant to be oppressive. If you can’t see that consider yourself lucky to be an ignorant idiot and not have to wake up every day and realize the cruel fate you’ve been dealt.

Even in medieval times unless you were a slave (and maybe even then) nobody was expected to work 40 hours a week for the whole year. Even fishermen and farmers who were the lowest of the low spent half their year just relaxing. Nobility didn’t work at all. Leisure time was paramount to all.

Today they’ve convinced you “hustle culture” is how to find your worth. Work 1000 hours a week until you die, what could possibly go wrong?
