So much so that people talk about it like it's nothing.
> wife and i make $375k but we're still fucked
> lol I make $500k as a faang programmer and shit's nothing bro
> high school dropout, make $180k as a business director of marketing or whatever the fuck
> business peaked at $2 million last year, still can't afford anything
> wife and I make $800k living in a nice neighborhood in the hamptons

I keep seeing and hearing these stories everywhere, even though statistics yell and scream at me that they're top 1% or whatever. Doesn't seem like it to me - ANYWAYS WHY DO PEOPLE ACT LIKE IT'S SO EASY TO MAKE THESE ASTRONOMICALLY HIGH SALARIES AND HOW DO I GET THESE JOBS HUH HUH HUH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>
>>60963073
Making $160k is the easiest thing ever - just own 4 million dollars, put it into a 4% savings account and you get $160k doing nothing.
Seriously, it's that easy: 4000000 * 0.04 = 160000
>>
>>60963082
BUT WHERE DID YOU GET THAT $4 MIL BESIDES BEING A TRUST FUND BABY HMMMMM FUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Absolutely. OP, it enrages me how so many redditors have no clue how absurdly lucky they are. They'll be like "yeah I make $100k a year doing AutoCAD and work maybe 30 minutes a day max" or something. I constantly see on reddit normies saying "oh yeah I do like an hour of work a week max at my job and make six figures" they're inhumanely lucky. Their genuinely luckier and more fortunate than 95% of people in terms of super easy high paying barely any work jobs.
>>
>>60963092
Just ask a billionaire.
1000000000 / 4000000 = 0.04
4 million dollars is only 4% of their wealth, if he really likes you he might just give it to you.
>>
>>60963099

>multiple 6 figure salaries are common
They’re either lying (most likely) or the majority of people who talk about their salaries openly are those who want to brag.
>>
>>60963092
Just get a rich father, bro, it's not that hard
>>
>>60963073
Envy is a sin.
You wanna feel even worse? It WAS easy. For them. Not for you, because you're retarded and unlucky. And now they're having a better experience of life than you, despite you coping about how dumb and incapable they "really" are.
So what you're doing is putting yourself above people you're not actually above. Because you don't want to believe that you're actually–in action–worse off than the people you call scum.
Way deep down, all you're saying is, "I'm so much better than these people, why am I worse off?" And that's why you're angry.
>>
>>60963073
The US labor force is 170 million, top 1% is 820k/year, so that means there's 1.7 million people making retardedly high salaries.
I barely even make 10% of that with a university degree and 10 years experience, yet I feel comfy. My net worth is almost 1m.
What is crazy to me is how they're such high earners with such low wealth. Seems like most of them are retarded with money, they barely manage to save/invest any of it that somehow with my shit salary I'm in the top 5% of wealth for my age bracket.
>>
>>60963092
this is /biz/ we do not celebrate working hard for money, go eat the rich on reddit or w/e
>>
I make $80k a year at a white collar role. Lots of promotions available, so $110k in maybe a few years. Really not bad at all. Remote job. I travel to some conferences every two months or so for a few days. I consider myself very lucky, I was washing dishes during the pandemic. Sucked so much ass.

Wife makes $250k but she also works 50 hours a week at an intense job.

>>60963156
We avoid lifestyle creep at all costs. Oh, a promotion? Time to eat out twice as much and live in a bigger place. No thanks.
>>
>>60963127
Yep, OP is falling for the selection bias. You go on a forum related to finance and you’re not hearing from truckers, you’re hearing about a consultant and their marketing specialist spouse earning $450k combined trying to max their 401(k)s and HSAs.

High level income salaries are NOT common. There is a huge gap between top 10% and bottom 85% income. 300k plus income jobs are rare.
>>60963099

>>

> Wife makes $250k but she also works 50 hours a week at an intense job.
Exactly. Once you get over $160k salaries, the job is a different level of commitment.
>80-100k is really low.
You wife probably with you cause youre nice and safe. Kinda like attractive girls over 22 dating/marrying men slightly less attractive than them.
>>
>>60963214
Depends how high. 100-300k MIGHT be a lie.
Over 400k, not a lie. Whats the point?
I always tell people I make $200k because any higher and most people wont believe you.
>>
>>60963073
Those are almost always self-employed and business owners.

yeah, we make those kinds of income fairly easily. But we're doing 15 different people's jobs to get that money, and we're risking everything we own every minute of every day based on our own performance. Most people simply cannot do this. You have to be highly intelligent by 4chan standards, and you have to be a bit crazy by any standards. And for those people it IS easy. But you can't do it. Most people here can't do it. The average employee will never make that kind of income. Business owners often will.
>>
100k is pretty much the median salary for any white collar job these days (accountant, etc.), and that's in an average cost of living area
If you're a manager, or in a competitive sector, it could easily be north of 150k
300k is still far less common, but a married couple can easily do it with their combined salaries
I'm just a hs graduate, 11 years in the IT field, and I bring in 120k a year
But during COVID, I had 4 wfh jobs, and made about 500k in a 10 month period
That helped me build up a good portfolio of stocks, which now spit out about 30k in dividends per year

This is image has always been dumb ragebait. If you can max your 401k, you aren't average. The vast majority are people (myself included) are happy enough just contributing up to the company match and that's it. If you can comfortably afford to max your 401k AND still live a good life, you basically are rich. They also apparently still have ~$600/mo still left over after everything. That's not a whole lot, but if you look at the breakdown, they basically have accounted for everything you need an emergency fund for. Also $18,000 to charities is insanity.

I give a few hundred to my church and that's about it.

You should be happy with 90k at pretty much every stage in life. The majority of people will never make more than like 70k/yr in their entire lives.

Yes. But also leverage. In an hour one guy can dig one hole, and one hole isnt much value.

The fund manager can spend an hour slightly adjusting the portfolio which can result in tens of millions of gains for a large fund, of which he takes a small percent as a fee.

Managing a fund isn’t difficult. A college level linear algebra course would be much harder. And digging ditches even harder.

Lying on the internet again, rajeet?

I love how none of you get into details about what you do so nobody calls you out on your bullshit.

i'd wager it is bullshit anon. similar to
- 80% of men are single virgins, but 100% of women are in relationships
- 99.9% of all 4chan users are at least 6' with massive Vitalik sized penises
and so on and so forth

not really. Just use real world wealth stats. I live in a big city so 200k salary is nothing. Studies show 200k is middle class here.

Fyi
>most anons here live nowhere desirable
>most anons here are rural
>or mid west
>a lot are poor
>the actual high income ones are losers like SWE or accountants or other wfh nonsense
>some business owners

1 out of 15 Americans are millionaires, every 15th person you walk past on the street is a millionaire

>>60969152

>>
>>60969169
